What's Hot? What's Not? Preparing to Sell Your House

By
Real Estate Agent with Referral Associates of Georgia, Inc.

According to Real Estate author Mark Nash, what was "in" yesterday is "out" today.  He suggests more popular trends for 2007 when making improvements to your house before you sell it.

Ceramic bathroom tiles are out!  Folks seem to like the shiny glass tiles these days.

Granite countertops?  Nope.  Mark says people want something a bit less costly.

Bamboo floors... they're not as durable to other types of flooring.

Nancy - I myself love the glass tiles, but here in Texas it has to be granite countertops or concrete. Buyers seem to think that anything else second class.

Nancy - I would have to totally disagree on the granite counter tops not being the in thing. The #1 thing buyers look for in every home in my area is whether it has granite in the kitchen. If the house has formica or even corian it just doesn't have the same appeal. On a lower priced home if you have granite it's a BIG bonus. What did the author say was the "in" thing for counters?

Mark - I prefer granite, too.  But this is what the author believes will be the new trends for the year.

Quoted from the article....

"Use engineered stone compound for kitchen countertops. The material is less expensive than granite and is expected to be the trend this year."
