6 Comments on Beggars' Night in Central Ohio, it's back...
Great information Maureen, nothing to do with Beggars Banquet of The Rolling Stone:)
Maureen, I remember Beggars' Night when I lived in MD! When we went out the day before the official Halloween Trick or Treat day the response of the treat givers were divided. Some people left their front lights off, some were happy to put treat in our sacks and one neighbor had his lights on but came to door to angrily say "Come back tomorrow" then slammed the door in or faces.
I think he enjoyed teaching us a lesson....
I forgot to add, love the photo you used....very spooky.
Thanks for stopping by... Endre
Cynthia Granville Trick-or-Treat: Thurs., Oct. 28 from 5:30-7 p.m.
I am confused... by this each year... What confuses me is the parts of the city of Columbus which are in a suburban school district...Dublin, Worthington, Westerville, a bit of the Plain City Local School District, a little bit of Gahanna, Hilliard... there are 10 to 12 school districts and in some places there are itty bitty islands that are something other than the area surrounding.
I believe Worthington is Sunday 'Trick or Treat' this year... on Halloween but what does that mean for the areas that are in the City of Columbus but Worthington schools. Two nights of Trick or Treat?
Photo is from last year. This size it is hard to see the street name, Cemetary Rd. in Worthington. The more well known Cemetary Rd. in Central Ohio is in Hilliard. Photo is Picnik. Didn't you Picnik a photo of you and your husband last year?
I can see the name on the sign just fine Maureen. Yes I think I monstered us in a photo, good memory.
So far I've found Beggars' Night to be on the date & time you mentioned above. But a friend told me in Downtown Granville it's a big deal on Oct. 31st. I 'll find out if this is the correct intel. We plan to go w/ her son and maybe even wear a mask oursleves!
Back my time there was no time limit, it was small neighborhood and we just ran the streets looking for goodies.
My monitor needs adjusting!
If only ghostly images were profitable....
An old house in New Albany?
Nope that's a photo of a house in Ackerly Park, the 2010 Parade of homes site. I believe this was the New England Homes house...
Old house in Worthington?
Yes that is Old Worthington but the photo was just taken last week... I kinda want a blobby looking ghost coming out of an upstairs window. Caspar the Friendly Ghost?
The ghosts on Picnik are great but I want something a little less formed. It will not let me add a third photo with a ghost.
Granville has some great properties for ghostifying.... Have fun the 28th through the 31st. Great timing this year for parties, events, haunted houses. Granville has the best ghost in Central Ohio... well maybe not. One of the best. Worthington embraces ghosts.
