Why Am I so Lucky?

By
Real Estate Agent with eXp Realty 2021016812

Luck or Hard Work?A few months back a friend of the family who I was considering hiring as my assistant, made reference to the amount of time I spend on community boards and volunteering with different groups.  He told me he thought it was not a wise idea for someone as busy as I am to give that much time to my community.  Why do you do it he asked?  The answer was because I live in the community.

The second thing he said made me chuckle, "you are so lucky that you keep finding customers".  I have heard the second comment from other agents in the past, not just in reference to me but towards any agent who is busy.

Luck has nothing to do with it.  Hard work does.

  • If you are working open houses and doing floor duty regularly you will meet potential clients and pick up a percentage of them.
  • If you advertise regularly and effectively you will pick up more clients.
  • If you do a great job for you clients they will give you referrals and you will pick up more clients.
  • If you are involved in community groups and where your real estate shirts have signs on your vehicles and are well known in the community you will pick up clients and referrals.

If you do all of those things, the inexperienced, the lazy and the slow agents will all call you lucky.  You may be in some way lucky.  You may be lucky that they are envious and not doing the things on the list to pick up those clients.

Aloha and have a good day.

Randy, The only thing you are lucky about is the fact that Sally didn't give you a black eye when you called her old! :) That is LUCK!

I had an agent tell me that I was lucky to have buyers - my response was - luck has nothing to do with it - hard work keeps my buyers loyal and brings me more buyers - Randy I am fairly sure you work hard to be as successful as you are.

Mike - I noticed that to.  The lucky ones do seem to out work the unlucky ones.

Diane - Thank you for those kind words.

Gary - We are in a people and community based business.  Being part of the community is a key component we should never overlook.  We should always give back.

Monika - Thank you, hard work usually pays off.

Kathy - Thank you.  If people don't volunteer than it is not a community, it is just a bunch of houses.

Yolanda - I find that studying makes everyone a good test taker.  :)

Randy, you are lucky that you decided not to put all your eggs in one basket.  Oops I don't think luck has anything to do with that, you made the decision to work hard and expand your horizons.  I have also always tried to have my business come from a lot of different avenues.

Marchel - The market will always be changing.  You need to have the ability to get business from different directions, if you plan to be in the business long.

You are lucky -but like you said, you have to service your clients well also -which you must do because you are so lucky:-)

I have a question for you as you have just become an epro.  I can never post pictures in my blog without affecting my text and somehow moving it down as opposed to the pictures being placed next to or around the text.  I noticed in this post your picture is next to your text.  Is there a special trick I need to do in order to fix that in my blogs?  Any advice is truly appreciated!!

Jeannette - You can move teh curser around to the level you want the picture and then in the dialog box that pops up when you insert the picture you can size and make placement decisions if you hit the appearance tab.  Good Luck and good blogging!

Karen - There are those who will continue to believe it is luck. They will be finding another line of work.

It was probably said earlier, but luck is where opportunity and preparation meet.  To be lucky, one must first be prepared.

Its always amazing how success is equated to luck.  Sure you spend endless hours on the internt "wasting" time.  Sure you volunteer alot of time which is "wasting" time when you could be out meeting future clients, instead of doing good, and talking to possible future clients who trust you.

I'm called lucky alot as well, and I guess I am.  Trying to explain that luck is actually the result of hard work, and dedication falls on deaf ears.

Hopefully my doubters continue to stay in their office and talk about my "Luck" !  In the meantime I will continue to snag up the clients they should have been talking to.

Lane - Being prepared keeps the boy scouts lucky also.

Chad - You are lucky, that they are not out talking to those clients.
