This is a good reminder for all of us to have plenty of smoke detectors and be sure they are functioning. Smoke dectectors do save alot of lives. This is a good way to reconnect with clients to remind them to check on their smoke dectectors for changing batteries and dust and cobwebs.

Most Fatal fires occur at night. Protect yourself and your family with these safety tips.

1. Install smoke detectors in all sleeping rooms, hallways that lead to sleeping areas, and each level of your home.

2. Call your local fire department if you are unsure about placement.

3. Smoke detectors should be installed 4" from the wall and wall mounts should be 4.5" from the ceiling. DOnot install near draft areas, windows, vents.

4. Keep your smoke detector working. Change thte batteries each 6 months and vacuum at least once a year. Dust and cobwebs can impair sensitivity.

5. Ted your smoke detector. Most smoke detectors have test buttons.

6. Prepare and escape route and crawl out. Stay lower than the smoke. Once you are out - STAY OUT!

7. Remember smoke detectors save someone's life almost everyday. It's up to you protect you and your family.

Good reminder Andy. This is especially true now that we're hading into the colds months and more and more people are going to begin to use their fireplaces and heaters. You should always make sure to clean them before beginning use to avoid any possibilities of carbon monoxide poisoning.
