Pushing forward no matter what the news???

I read the most interesting article today that made me consider retiring from Real Estate.  Apparently we have not been in a slump at all, but an eternal upswing of market trends, buyers, sellers, fantastic interest rates, terms and the sort.

We have been duped by what we have read about the market being in a place that will cause horrific waves of damage.  We have had the wool pulled over our eyes by the various media outlets that are telling buyers and sellers, not to mention us, that things are dismal and will not recover for a long time.

The rut has also presented itself in the circles in which we run, from our associates, our family, friends, sphere of influence etc.  We see the residual effect of the market hypothesis portrayed in the media infecting those that were mostly positive around us.  We also see some of our friends falling out of the business, running scared, and not keeping a laser gaze on the objective, survival.

What ever happened to the basic human instinct, have we come too far in our so called "evolution" to have the basic need and drive for survival being unselected by our genetic code?

Dammit, lets all pull each other up by our boot straps and get to digging our way out of that hole.  Some of us are throwing the dirt back upon our backs.  Let us dig smarter.  Now is the time to prospect, get a schedule, develop a routine that will mold your future business.

It is not the time to be dug in the newspapers and media hype, true or not, everything will not stay as it is now and there is nothing new under the sun.  It could get worse, or it could get better.  I vote for Better.  I want to be dug in deeper than an Alabama tick in this GREAT market.  I want to ready myself and poise at the brink of the absolute desire of being the one that has the buyers and sellers and makes the introductions.

Have we forgot to notice that some of us are doing business?  If I have to drag someone out of the unreachable place to have them buy a home I have listed, then so be it.  If you put your energy into helping the solution instead of contributing to the problem, then we all would be getting somewhere.  You can either get busy dying or get busy living.  I am for Living!!!!

LAPD MacIVOR

May you all be successful in this great market and prepare for the rush to come!!!

Way to go Connor! That's the way to do it and the right attitude! I say hooray for the ones quitting because many of them did not need to be in this business to begin with. When the going gets tough the tough get going. I got my license when Jimmy Carter was President and interest rates were hovering 17% to 21% and I made it through that recession as a new agent! Connor-

I am happy to be involved in Real Estate because of the impact that I am making through educating and serving clients.  The market is what it is.  However, people will always need a place to live, or they will need to sell because of job-relocation, etc. so we will continue to have work to do.  We can help people no matter what the market conditions are like and serve them through their transitions in life.

Great post by the way!

Connor...

I don't pay any attention to what the media says. They are not in my market nor do they have a clue as to what is really going on.

I know a lot of people who are leaving this business. That's the result of them getting into this business for the 'easy' money of a booming market.

I have seen this type of market before and frankly when we get this kind of weeding process happening it helps to clean up this industry.

In our market we need this weeding out once in awhile. I am not particularly fond of receiving offers that are written up with crayon by a 9 year old. Yah. That happened :)

The media likes to create ANYTHING to sell a story (or even the idea of a story)  The market up here is slowing... but that is a NORMAL TREND for this time of year... thanks for the post
