Real Estate Coaches Who Blog ?

By
Industry Observer

Wondering about community sense of fair play here at AR...

What do you think about COACHES and TRAINERS who blog?

By this I mean those who are able to contribute from area of expertise, who share some of what they know, what can be shared in bits over a blog, while at the same time setting limits on what can be done for free and what can be done for clients....

How do we participate in these blogs, and share what we do when on topic and appropriate, without being accused of spamming the members?

I know what you mean! When I first started blogging, I worried about being perceived as a spammer, even though I very rarely promoted my business. On the forum I moderate at Agentsonline.net, I've been busted for spamming even when I clearly wasn't - people are Very Sensitive to such things!

I do find that the more you give away, the more people are drawn to you... Give Give Give and you shall Receive, Big Time!

Jennifer:  Thank you for your comment.  Yes people are senstive.

I am surprised this topic did not draw more comments.  Aren't there many coaches here at AR?

Every city needs grocers and bankers and drycleaners, so why is it so bad if there are coaches blogging at RE blog communities?

BTW:  I never promote my business with outright offers, ads, prices, etc.... When topics come up where I can help people I share what I can in a blog and then I do let people know that if they want more, I do coach on the subject.  If asked direct questions I will post on topic about what I do, offer links to my free resources sites and coaching sites, when appropriate.

About giving....  I share what I can in blog formats...  I wrote an eBook on SEO for Realtors and released it one chapter at a time, free, to AR bloggers...  May do the same about listing FSBO's soon.  When people ask, I point them to the free version, which they have to retrieve from the blog by searching, cutting and pasting to a WORD DOCUMENT on their own computer.  It's a little work but is completely free.  At the same time, I offer it for a modest price by email, already put together....

Is that the kind of thing you mean about giving?  I love to use all my time helping people and would give all my stuff away, but then I would have no time to sell real estate - and the bills would not get paid... so... I give what I can and coach when somebody wants more.

Anybody else?

Good heavens, Jennifer is going to think I am stalking her...everywhere I have been on the board this morning, she has just preceded me.  ;-)  I got up way too early this morning and am killing time before an appointment!  Anyway, of course, I agree with her because, well, we are twins misplaced at birth.

Personally, I find the blogs and posts from coaches to be among the MOST helpful on the board...one could make the argument most of the agents here are spamming, if one wants to consider it that, because they are here to promote themselves and their businesses (well, yes, because that's the purpose of the board for many people, so I don't mean that in a bad way).  And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but for anyone to think a coach is somehow guilty of promoting their business simply by contributing what is often very helpful content, is just wrong.

As long as you don't make an outright appeal for business or send unsolicited emails, I say, "blog away...please!"
