We on Long Island have had so much rain these past few weeks, it was met with mixed feeling. Yes we needed it after a dry summer and many brown lawns, and my son was sick and tired of watering the freshly planted trees that needed daily watering to survive. However, soccer season started, and my daughter playing in the rain, and having games canceled and rescheduled, constantly messed things up, including her getting sick. Friends reported flooding and leaking roofs in rare instances. This brings me to a special location where leaks are welcomed and used for a greater purpose.

The place is a Church called Sainta Rosalia, in Palermo Sicily.

It is the story of a wealthy girl, who ran away from her family and found a cave to live in, in the mountain and surrounding woods. She survived many years living there alone. It was believed she preformed miracles, and still does. Years later a church was resurrected in her honor. People visit it regularly looking for healing and miracles. They donate money, gold and jewels, presenting it to her statue.

You can see how the water is captured in the ceiling

of the cave, and through a series of connected channels, it

runs dow to a basin where it is blessed as Holy Water.

This is quite the take on plumbing as we know it.

So, as I say, Rain Water is a blessing, and so is ACTIVE RAIN.

Thanks Scott, I mostly marvel at how that water comes down from the ceiling of the cave, never dripping on anyone but ends in the Holy Water.

Those Italians...forever coming up with ingenious ideas!!! Italy is so full of wonderful stories of miracles...never heard of this one. The cave reminds me of the grotto at Lourdes, France...that is a "must see" if you ever get that way! I've spent many months in Italy but never made it down the boot...would love to go to Sicilia as my grandfather was born there. Perhaps I will get there one day and visit this lovely and miraculous site!

Thanks for sharing!
