Are you ready for the next act? What Character are you playing? Did you know the month of October is "Arts & Culture" Month? I didn't give it a second thought until recently.
You may ask what's this have to do with Real Estate? As part of my commitment to my community, along with promoting the lifestyle, cultural & art events, 365 things to do on the treasure coast, and as part of the curriculum for the Martin County, Florida LEADERship Program, I had the opportunity to not only visit one of Martin County's oldest non-profit community theatres, but partake in a theatrical experience. I had to present a character from "Spoon River Anthology" by Edgar Lee Masters.
The Barn Theatre, located in Stuart, Florida on the Treasure Coast, is the only Community Theatre venue from Ft. Pierce to Jupiter. The Barn Theatre presents six (6) main-stage productions per year, including 13 performances each. The most amazing part of this experience is that the actors, directors, producers, sound and lighting, set builders, costumers, ushers, are all volunteers.
The Barn Theatre is celebrating 40 years of bringing live entertainment to Stuart and Martin County area. The humble beginnings as a rose colored barn, started as a flower packing barn. Insulated refrigerated rooms were demolished; a stage was built, completely constructed and furnished all by volunteers. The theatre was named after its original purpose; people were often quoted as saying "they will be working at the barn today" (flower packing barn), so it quite naturally was named "THE BARN", Martin County's Community Theatre.
This season's line-up includes Cheaper by the Dozen, The Perfect Wedding, Blithe Spirit, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Move Over Mrs. Markham, and the Hollow. So if you happen to visit Stuart, Florida on the Treasure Coast, please visit "The Barn" Theatre for an enjoyable, memorable experience.
