12 Comments on The Fall Colors in Montana - Part 6 of 10: Joliet, Montana
Hello Gerry and I really like your series of photographs and all the parts, that green beetle VW is a beautiful looking car also!
VB ;)
Vegas Bob,
Thank you for checking out this series and for your nice comment. I am glad you liked the green beetle VW. It was hard not to notice it with its vibrant green color and the sun shining on it! :)
One of the beauties of living in the north. To see nature change right before your eyes.
Robert,
I agree! :) Thank you for visiting this post.
Hi Gerry - I couldn't find any hidden moose in your Joliet fall photos.
Since Joliet seemed to be a French name, I thought I would research where it got its name. It was named after Louis Joliet who you may know as a French Canadian explorer in the mid to late 1600s. Joliet, IL is named after him. Joliette, Quebec in your home province in Canada was named after a decendent of Louis Joliet. (Information from Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Jolliet.
Marc,
I don't include moose in all my posts! I love to keep people guessing. But you know I try extra hard on Mondays! :)
As you pointed out, Joliet, Illinois got was named after Louis Joliet. Joliet, Montana was named after a railroad official of the Northern Pacific Railroad who was from Joliet, Illinois. Back in the old days, Joliet, Montana was a shipping point for grains and vegetable products.
Make sure to come back to see the fall photos of Billings! :)
When I signed in and made my first comment this evening, my graphic was "moosehead," which reminded me of you. Coincidentally, you were at the top of my list to visit today. Karma? LOL
Jim,
That was your sign to head to moose country or my blog with the word "moosehead"! :)
Karma indeed!
