Foreclosures and Fraud - Two Peas in a Pod
by John Occhi, Hemet REALTOR®
Preforeclosure Consultant
We all know two things about this market - both foreclosure and fraud are on the rise and the two go together like a hand and a glove. Where you find one, the other will be.

I was reading my industry news ezines this morning, when I opened up an interesting article published by RISMedia and found an article that caught my attention, "As Foreclosures Rates Rise, so Does Fraud".
The short article details how scammers take advantage of buying undervalued homes and then using them as pieces in their schemes. One scheme is illegal cash back at the closing and another they discuss is illegal flipping by putting minor repairs on a home and selling it for an over-valued price using fraudulent appraisals - often targeting minorities and others with poor credit and lack of documentation.
As I finished reading, I realized the author is none other than our own ActiveRain Blogger, Ralph Roberts. I subscribe to his blog and my only complaint is that he does not contribute enough here in the Rain - but what he has to say is always very timely. Ralph is an anti-fraud advocate and worth the read if you are at all concerned with the future of our industry.
