Year-round throughout the state of RHODE ISLAND one can always find something interesting to do and see, but during the fall the colors are spectacular. There are the special events, fairs, concerts and especially the annual Art Festival that takes place every year during the Columbus Day long weekend. It takes place in North Scituate, RI. This is their 44th year and my 18th annual art excursion. As a former art instructor in East Providence, RI and a lover of the ARTS. I always schedule time on my calendar to visit this festival.
In 1710 emigrants from Scituate, Massachusetts first settled inScituate, R.I where this Annual SCITUATE ART FESTIVAL takes place each fall season. The original spelling of the town's name was "Satuit", an Indian word meaning "cold brook".
"This annual event began in 1967 as a means of supporting the effort to restore the 1830 era former Congregational Church in the village of Scituate. Starting with just twelve local exhibitors that first year, this well-established and much-anticipated Autumn event now draws close to three hundred exhibitors from all over the United States and Canada.

This Scituate Art Festival , a local gem, was voted Best Annual Festival in Rhode Island Monthly's 2010 Reader's Poll.
"Proceeds from the festival are distributed to a variety of good causes within the town, including continued upkeep of the venerable old church"
There is a huge variety of art from all over the New England region and always the works of our local Ocean state artists.
