After two days, this Texas Stick Bug finally left The Princess Mama's front door and moved on to bigger and better things (Hallelujah!).  But, while he was on holiday, I got the close up above AND... Just so you could see how BIG this bug was, I shot the photo below. This was one big Stick Bug!

Whoa! I never saw anything like that!

Well, they say things are always bigger in Texas and I think you proved it! I'm going to have to look up Riverside. I live in the Dallas area and never heard of that city. So is this house located in the sticks? Near a forest? I didn't know insects like this exist! Very bizzare! But interesting too! I am going to have to research the stick bug too! I'm always in my garden and never wear gloves - I think you just convinced me that it's a good idea for me to get some garden gloves!

Perhaps this creature is sticking around until you get it sold?

Stick bugs are creepy and cool all at the same time.  Got 'em here in Oklahoma too.  Just not that big!

Patricia: I grew up in Mesquite and have lots of family in the Dallas metroplex! They don't bite or sting. They can shoot a milky spray in the eyes or on the skin if you threaten them. My eye was behind the viewfinder and I didn't know that at the time that I took the picture. My husband picks them up and moves them and they have never sprayed him. Really freaky looking though!

Bob: Heading to Ten Killer Lake later this month for a wedding! I'll look for them while I'm there! :O)

Two days? He must have needed a rest! I think that it's great to see these in the parks. Stick bugs are so cool. They almost seem lifeless.

I don't recall ever seeing one of those creatures but since I live in Texas I will probably be haunted this October by them :)

Lindsey: Yep! He was there when I got to Mom's about 5 in the evening and then the entire next day and finally gone when I got back the next day. I was afraid he was moving in! LOL

Marilyn: They are also called walking sticks! :O)

Lisa:  They are pretty big but this one was HUGE! LOL

Teral: They really do not bother you. My hubby (The Bug Man - U-Bug-Me Pest Control) Picks them up and moves them when the little girls get freaked out by them at church. Pretty funny! This big girl wouldn't go that far! LOL

Joni - It is absolutely amazing how nature can camouflage little beings like that to look like other things.  At first glance, it almost looks like part of a grape vine.

Joni, I went on a listing presentation in Hickory Creek this afternoon and while I was walking around the building, one of the owners pointed up above the window and said, "What in the world is that?"

You'll never know how proud I was to calmly say, "Oh, that's a walking stick."

I felt so smart! Thank you Joni!!!
