Highlands Ranch real estate in the snowDenver Residents - Now is the Time to Save & Pick Up Your Ski Passes

Officially its still summer, but now is the time to pick up your ski passes for the 07-08 Season if you haven't already done so and save some significant $$!  Even if you are only in Denver now home shopping, if your move will be complete in time to ski, this is something to consider.  A complete list of all Passwagon locations and event dates & product comparisons can be found here.  The main Colorado Pass site can be found here

Here is just some of information on existing options:

Colorado Pass -Purchase before 9/3 for significant savings - buy at last year's price of $419 - prices will increase after Labor day (Monday 9/3).  This is a Unlimited Season Pass to Winter Park, Breckenridge and ABasin with 10 days (with some restrictions) at Vail or Beaver Creek.  These can be purchased in person this weekend at Colorado Ski & Golf SkiRex Sale or Sniagrab downtown at the Sports Authority - Sports Castle (10th & Broadway) or at REI locations.  Renewing pass-holders can renew on line here.

Summit Pass- $379 - Like the Colorado Pass, without the 10 days at Vail or Beaver Creek.  These can also be purchased in person this weekend at Colorado Ski & Golf SkiRex Sale or Sniagrab downtown at the Sports Castle (10th & Broadway) or at REI locations.  If you were a current pas-holder can also renew online here.

Keystone and ABasin 4Pack- This pass gives you 4 restricted days at Keystone or ABasin.  A great deal for the casual skier.  Purchase at Colorado Ski & Golf, Sports Authority Sports Castle or REI.

Rocky Mountain Super Pass  -  $389 - This pass offers unlimited Skiing at Winter Park/ Mary Jane and Copper Mountain.  A terrific option for regular skiers & boarders.

Copper 4 Pass- $ 119 Price Until Oct 14 -  Non-transferable - This pass will give you 4 slightly restricted days at Copper Mountain plus some additional coupons (restricted days are Dec 26 - 31).  These can be renewed online or purchased in person at Christy Sports or Passwagon sales & events around the Metro area.  See here for a complete list.

Winter Park 4 Pass- $129 price until Oct 14 - Non-transferable - This pass will give you 4 slightly restricted days at Winter Park plus some additional coupons (restricted days are Dec 26 - 31).  These can be renewed online or purchased in person at Christy Sports or Passwagon sales & events around the Metro area.  See here for a complete list.

TransFourCard - $179 - This card is like the Copper and Winter Park 4 Pass but it can be used at BOTH Winter Par and Copper and it is transferable.  (restricted Dec 26 - 31 & only 1 use per day).  My guess is this price will rise after Oct 14th as well, although I haven't been able to confirm that yet.  In addition to the regular locations to be purchased, the TransFour cards can be purchased at local KingSoopers and online here

Some other decent options to consider for less regular skiers are finding an Entertainment Book, Gold C Book or e-book to purchase.  The coupons are great - especially to share with out-of-town visitors or those less regular skiers (but beware of restricted dates).  I also always recommend the Colorado Gems card for discounts to the lesser-known but still great smaller resorts in Colorado.  You can also enroll for free in the SkEcard to receive the best daily rate to Breckenridge, Vail, Beaver Creek and ABasin.

If this is your first winter to live in Denver and you plan on skiing, pan ahead and look into these options now.  It will save you money down the road and its always nice to have your passes before you get to the slopes.

Also, if you have a child in 5th or 6th grade in Colorado, don't forget about the Colorado 5th Grade Passports and 6th Grade Graduate Pass programs.  Eligible children should be bringing home information from school in September.

Enjoy the End of Summer!

10 Comments on Living In Denver - Its Time To Get Your Passes - Ski Passes That Is!

Oh my gosh - skiing - shhhh I want a few more weeks of warm weather

09/01/2007 12:30 AM by Central Oregon Real Estate | Thesa Chambers, Broker (RE/MAX Sunset Realty La Pine)

I hear you Thesa, but now is the time if you want passes.  The prices rises later, depending on the pass.  Many people that relocate to the Denver area do not know that their first year here, so its good for them to realize that.

Steve, I remember the post you did just recently on getting bargains on ski gear. I was hoping you would do a follow-up to that article and talk about all of the great deals we have available for ski passes. Good information. Thanks for posting it.

HI Leon, Yes there are some great local deals here for ski season.  I have one eligible for the 5th grade pass under my roof, now I just need to figure out what the rest of us need.

When I move closer to DIA I'm on the ski passes like white on rice.  I'm too far to use them as much as needed or wanted, would be more like it.

Chris, If you are going to ski at Copper or Winter Park, the TransFour may work for you, it just depends.

I wouldn't be without my season pass!  I pity the people in Steamboat who have to pay over $1,000 for theirs!  That is what having no competition will do!  I do like to ski Steamboat too, but Snowmass and Copper are my favorites.

Joanne, I am pretty sure the Entertainment Book generally has decent Steamboat coupons (but I haven't checked this year's) - they are perfect for a short visit as long as black-out days don't effect you.
