While showing new construction homes around Lake Charles yesterday, we came upon one home where the sellers had left the attic opened for the buyer to view the floored attic access. You may be wondering why we would be looking in the attic in the preview stage of the buying process.
We do not have basements in Louisiana so attic space is actually used by homeowners here in Southwest Louisiana.
Attics are not what they used to be in days gone by where there was just a small crawl space for you to store your suitcases and Christmas decorations with all the pink fluffy insulation.
With the higher pitched roofs found in the French Country construction you can actually stand up in most new construction attics. Builders are beginning to finish the attic space with flooring and this is a selling point for buyers who have ALOT OF STUFF, not to mention that modern attics are also better insulated.
The seller knew the house was being shown, so they left the ladder down for us. Sure enough my buyer was interested in checking out the attic.
Guess this curious kitty was also interested in exploring a new spot not usually accessible!
