Wow -- what a great hint -- now that narrows it down!  LOL.  Some sort of reptile for sure.. and I love the small on its face!

Gila Monster?     Haven't been to the zoo for quite a while, probably should go and get reacquainted with the animals!

I think Joan is right with Gila Monster.  Does AR takes away 25 points for an incorrect guess?  :)

My best guess is a komodo dragon.

Whatever it is ... it's way too close to the camera for me to be comfortable ... even with a telephoto lense!

Larry – First comment, and you’re the winner! It’s the “komodo dragon” at the San Diego Zoo. It’s fun to watch him when he’s being fed as he was this day.

Joan W – I thought everyone would appreciate my hint. LOL

Joan C – Larry got it with the first comment. I just hate it when that happens. LOL

Gerry – I don’t think so. They only take away points if you’re bad, sometimes even banishing you from the community. No chance even for penance.

Will – It’s a komodo dragon, more properly known as a komodo monitor lizard.

Jack – You’re another winner!

Cody – You’re winner number three!

Jack – Not to worry. It was behind glass. They have toxic spit from bacteria that live in their mouth, yet the zookeeper wasn’t dressed in anything special while he was feeding that little guy.

Glad someone guessed it because I am animal identification challenged. :)  I need to spend more time at the zoo.

I would have guessed the Geico Gecko! I did not realize he lived in the SD Zoo. Do the Geico cavemen live their too?
