Is this the season of rebirth, or the season before the start of Winter?

For those of us who have been walking this Earth since the End of the Great War (WWII), some of us are beginning to wonder how much longer do we have here before it is our turn to pass into the great beyond!

I received a phone call from my sister this evening, my cousin, who was like a brother to be when we were kids is about to make the great passage. He is very weak, has several different cancers, Liver Cancer and Lung Cancer are probably the worst of what ails him. He lived a full life, as kids we were sometimes wild, as young adults we did our thing for God and Country. We got married, raised our children as best we could, moved to opposite sides of the country, and did not communicate much with each other for the last 35 years or so.

Yet I have this strong urge, feeling, almost compulsion that I should go visit him this week. He lives about 4 hours by car from me, we haven't seen each other in probably 10 years, only spoke once or twice in that time frame, yet I feel that "my brother" is about to pass on.

From what I have been told he is not talking to many people, his wife, children, and sister. He told his sister that he is "on my way to see Mom", who passed earlier this year. My sister told me of all of the relatives and friends that have passed in the last couple of years, since I have not been in communications with most of them for decades, that news has not made it to me, now I am wondering, "what will happen next", to my circle of family and friends?  How many will be here in a decade? Of those remaining, who will they be? My sister does not give herself much chance of staying for 3 or 4 more years, it's not that she has given up hope, it is that she says her time is coming.

So my thought and question to all of the AR folks is "how much longer do you think you have here in this existence?" Will you be around at the beginning of 2020 or will you be gone? If you are approaching the "normal" retirement age, will you continue working, or will you travel, or will you just sit in you chair and watch the rest of the world go by for a while?  How long will that while be?

When I turned 50, I remembered that all great people have great goals, so I set a Great Goal, "To see the century turn AGAIN". Many of my friends laughed and said, impossible, my response has been "Why?". I believe that with a strong belief, modern medicine and a will to live life to the fullest, Why Not?

Will you be living your final days shortly, or will that be a long time, decades, into the future, what will this world be then?

These are just my thoughts, Hope you enjoyed them.

Ted, I have to be honest I dont' think any of us know what tomorrow brings.  We all have to be ready to meet our maker at any time.  I do think having a personal relationship with my Lord and Savior has given me a peace that transcends understanding.

Ted--Having lost my parents in the past three years gives me a new outlook on life and how precious it is. Having created good memories helps to keep our loved ones with us even after they are physically gone.  Go see your cousin!!
