Scott Air Force Base covers 3589 Acres and has 980 Buildings. Population: About 3350 people live on base in 1,420 family housing units and four dormitories. More than 34,000 military and civillian personnel and their families live on and off the base. The base serves about 14,000 military retirees and their families. About 81 percent of active duty military members live off base; about 19 percent live in housing on base.
Employees: The base has 12,684 employees. Of them 5,185 are active duty, 1,1104 are Air Force Reservists, 870 are Air National Guard and 5,5525 are civilians.
Economics: The estimated dollar value of jobs created by Scott Air Force Base, including active duty, reservists, cevilian and contractors, is $233 million yearly. The gross total payroll generated by Scott Air Force Base is $927 million yearly. The total value of the land, aircraft, equipment, inventories and retail sales at the base is $3.5 billion yearly.
Scott Air Force Base is one of the nation's oldest Air Force bases. It is just outside Shiloh, IL and Belleville, about 20 minutes from St. Louis, Missouri.
Scott Air Force Base is home to two major military headquarters: The Air Mobility Command and the U.S. Transportation Command. The U.S. Transportation is the umbrella that covers Air Mobility Command, The Army's Military Traffic Management command and the Navy's Military Sealift. Other tenants at Scott Air Force Base include: The 18th Air Force Headquarters, the 932nd Air Force Reserve Airlift Wing, the Air Foce Communications Agency, the Defense Information Systems Agency, the Defense Information Technology Contracting Office, the Global Patient Movement Requirements Center and the 126th Air Refueling Wing of the Air National Guard.

Aero Club! - The club's fleet consists of Cessna 152, 172, 182TR, a Symphony, a Piper Warrior as well as a twin engine Piper Seminole. All are available for local or cross-country flights and TDY flights. The Aero Club's flight school is FAA Part 141 certified. Programs range from Private Pilot to Airline Transport Pilot. A computerized trainer is also available for training and keeping pilots proficient under Instrument Flight Rules. The club is also a CATS testing facility when you are ready for your FAA Written Exam. The club offers Introductory Flights for $65, a great way to get a feel of the Scott Areo Club program in addition to getting an aerial view of the surrounding areas. Chapel - The main Scott Chapel is located at Building 1620. Cardinal Creek Chapel - Is located by Scott Lake in Building 5713. Child Development Program - Located in the Child Development Center, Building 1630 - (618) 256-2669. Cardinal Creek Golf Course - (618) 744-1400 - Par 72, 18-hole course located on the east end of the flight line. The course features beautifully landscaped, well maintained fairways, practice putting and chipping greens and a practice range. Professional Golf Association professionals are available for individual lessons and golf clinics to include the Air Force Kids Golf and Link Up 2 Golf programs. Command Post - Base News! Library - (618) 256-5100 Loan Closet -(618) 256-3616 - All personnel arriving at Scott are invited to come to Family Services at 404 W. Martin St. in the Scott Community Center. Volunteers are on duty Monday though Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., excluding federal holidays. They have base maps and other useful information for newcomers. Family Services has a supply of essential cooking and eating utensils and small electrical appliance for short term loan. Irons, ironing boards, pack n'plays, high chairs, flip out mats and air beds for sleeping, tables and chairs may also be borrowed. They have many items to make your transition to Scott smoother.
