If you could would You?

Valley Real EstateIf you could What? Is this the question you are asking yourself Now? Well, What is it that you want? You might want to bring your Real Estate business to a height that it has never been before. Or maybe you are going to put Real Estate down for a while and do something else, take a cruise, start another business, play with the children or grandchildren, I don't know. Or maybe you are looking for a way to transition to something new.

Today I was mowing the lawn, and enjoying the time to just think or not when I began thinking about one of the greatest books ever written, at least in my opinion, No it is not the Bible, it is "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. Hill's commission, by James Carnage, was to interview the richest men in business, at the time and figure out what they had in common, then he was to publish his findings in a book. Carnage did not offer Hill anything for the work, save a letter of introduction from Carnage to this list of Giants of the time. Hill took on the challenge and years later finished the book. I believe the title tells the entire story. We are what we think about, what we dream about, and what we do with these dreams, thoughts and desires. I am paraphrasing Hill when he said "Whatever a man can conceive and believe he can achieve...".

I do not know what the Real Estate market is like in your area, however, with the news that many of the Major Mortgage Bankers are going to stop the foreclosure procedures, at least for a while, I am wondering what many of us are going to do. If the halt is for 30 or 60 days, that is one thing, if that drags on for months, then what??

Here is the article "Bank of America Halts Foreclosures Nationwide".

So "If you could would You?", start a new business, retire, stay put, play golf, live off you assets? What is your dream??

Ted,

GREAT QUESTION .... "IF YOU COULD, WOULD YOU?" ....

I'd stay PUT. There is PLENTY of business out there. It all depends on the motivation of the agent. I'm hungry, competitive, and growing my business according to market demands.

I had thought about retiring at the end of this year but realized how much I would miss the business. Instead I am looking for a licensed assistant to help me out.

One of my listings has a framed quote above the kitchen sink: "What would you do it you knew you couldn't fail?"  So true.  I need to tattoo that to my eyeballs. Thanks for the post - a reminder we all need daily, it seems.

Ted:

I have read that book and it is wonderful.  The way you wound that question into your narrative, it kind of takes you by surprise, but it really makes you think about the challenges and possibilities of a career repositioning.  I was tempted to start another business, but the older I get the more rational my thoughts patterns are, I'll just stick with two, that is still manageable.  Great Post thanks for challenging out mediocrity.

It is a great book and well worth reading.  I'm going to keep moving forward with short sales and see what the banks do with the foreclosures.

Not a real person
San Diego, CA

I still have so many dreams: owning a plant nursery, working at the San Diego Zoo, winning the mega lottery. Ooops. I guess I can’t win the mega lottery because someone told me you have to play the lottery in order to win it.

I could turn back time, I would have been a realtor sooner rather than later. I love this business. The joys are of such heights!

Ted, thankfully, Bank of America's freeze didn't last long.  We have still got plenty of BofA inventory to give the market plenty to choose from.
