Throughout the process of working a sale, there are issues that present themselves that, if not for the intervention of the agent can cause the deal to either fall through or to bring an expense onto the participants of the transaction that was unexpected.
Many times the agents will collude and come to an agreement to contribute in some way from their pockets to keep the deal alive. No one wants to expend this much time and energy and come away empty handed.
When the problem is created because of an oversight by one of the agents, then it's time to own up, dip into the wallet, and make it right.
Too many times this goes unrecognized. This post by my friend and fellow associate in the business, Nick Pappas from Huntsville, AL demonstrates the level of commitment that is offered by so many of us agents.
Your Realtor Made A Mistake (ME) And I'm Going To Make It Right!
Okay, so why would I admit such a thing in this forum for all to read? It's simple...if I make a mistake I'm going to make it right! None of us are perfect least of all me and my ego isn't that big that I can't accept blame. We all make mistakes, but it's how we deal with those mistakes that lets the world know who we are. Recently I wrote an offer for clients and it was eventually accepted by the sellers (no kidding...it was a great offer and there was the tiny issue of the mistake in wording I used).
Without getting into the details of the contract I will only say that I accidentally substituted the word including for excluding. This Faux pas will end up costing my clients between $300 and $600...nope that's not going to happen! I was hired to represent and negotiate in their best interest...I screwed up and I'm not letting them pay for it.
One of the AR members passed around a series of sayings and this one sticks with me; "there's no worse moment during an argument or conversation when you realize that you are wrong!" Well, that message hit home today, but I choose to make it right...it's all about the clients...sorry guys, but your Realtor made a mistake and he's going to make it right.
Anyone else make a mistake that they made right?
