Google Tags: What Do You Want Your Search Engine Result to Say?

Services for Real Estate Pros with RealSupport Inc.

As a real estate agent, you should always be looking for ways to make it as easy as possible for your customers find your business on the internet. As much as we would all like to be number one on the search engine results page, this is an achievement that takes time, energy and talent.

Google is your best friend when it comes to marketing your business. They want to make it easy for your customers to find you. They want to offer you services to help your business. A simple search through Google's services and you will find countless applications - some of which are free, if not very reasonably priced.

I told you a few blogs back about creating a Google Profile. Now I want to tell you about Google tags. Adding a tag to your Google Places allows you to highlight information that you want your customers to see.

As a Real Estate Agent, you can use a Google tag to…
1) Highlight a coupon, a special deal, or a giveaway to promote your business
2) Feature a virtual tour video of one of your best listings, or another video you created for your business.
3) Include a link to a page on your website - the Buyer's page, Seller's page, or Bio page - whatever you think best highlights your business.
4) Highlight a photo of you, your office, or possibly an iconic picture of the community you represent

One thing to point out about Google Tags - they do not affect search result rankings; they only add more information to Google Places when it appears in the search results.

This does not, however, discount the benefits to Google tags.  Tagging your business with these unique features is the best way to show potential clients what you think is most important about your business.

The other notable benefit is that you can track the effectiveness of your tag with the Google Places dashboard. The data will show how well your tag is performing, alongside how well your business listing is performing. This allows you to experiment with different tags to see which ones people respond to best. The tracking benefit alone is reason enough to sign up because tracking your customers is invaluable to finding out how successful your real estate marketing efforts are.

For more details on setting up Google tags, just watch the video below:

If this sounds like something you are interested in, simply ask your real estate virtual assistant to set it up for you. There is a 30 day free trial, so you can always try it, and if you don't like it, no expense was spared. After the 30 days, it is $25/month.

As far as Google goes, I encourage you to always be on the lookout for other features that this all-encompassing site offers. As the number one search engine in the country, I think it’s safe to say that they are a resource you want on your side.

Happy tagging!

Wow-excellent advice. I need to re-read this. I have a lot to learn and have just gone back and "fixed" a post because it did not show up in Google Alerts. I am struggling but I WILL get there!
