OctoberTransition Time Here ... in Ocean City, New Jersey

The weather continues to change ... a bit more rain, the temps moving into the daytime 60s, much colder in the evening.  I'm still wearing summer shorts to go to work, but on occasional days I alter my clothing to adjust to a colder morning.  Many, but not all, owners are "closing down the house" for the winter ... doing it a bit early.  So as I talk to my listing owners, they inform me of the changing arrangements for their property.  Maybe they'll be down another weekend, but they are not sure.

"Transition time" means the changing nature of things here at the Jersey Shore.  Although things pick up just a bit more on the weekend, we have moved into our "off-season mode."  In terms of property here, many owners stick to "the real world" in the winter, or head to another world where it stays warm all year long.  But as a listing agent, I must keep on top of all of the continuing changes so that I am able to coordinate showings accordingly.

From now through late November, owners will continue to have this "transition time" as they winterize their second homes and rental properties.  There are always a number of owners of second homes who use their shore properties all year round.  But that is a clear minority here in Ocean City, New Jersey.

One can feel the continuing changes in the air here at the shore.  If you walk the beach in the late afternoon, it is rare to see more than a passing walker or two, maybe one with a dog.  Of course, the shore birds have claimed the beach as their own for the coming season or two.

Transition time here in Ocean City is a continuing process year after year ... and it is not meant to sound a sad note ... in fact, many locals continue to cheer for the changing time frame.  It's just a different way of living for a season or two.  Just keeping you posted on what is happening in Ocean City, New Jersey                dap
