Having a brother in the military, I must say, I have a definite soft spot for anything that has to do with supporting the men and women in the military. Add real estate to the equation, and I'm sold! I'm writing this blog to bring about awareness of a new campaign, "Operation: Home Relief." This is a cause started by USA Cares on Facebook to not only bring about awareness of the many recent foreclosures men and women in the military are facing, but also to raise money to help anyway possible. Vicki Cox, NAR President, said, "Owning a home is part of the American dream, where we make memories, build our futures, and feel comfortable and secure; and any family who loses that dream to foreclosure is one family too many," Having to reach the point of where foreclosure is even an option is hard enough; but to come to the realization that you're fighting for your country, so your fellow Americans can live freely all the while your home is being foreclosed upon.. there's just something not right about that! These men and women leave everything - their homes, their families, the so many un-thought-of-luxuries we take for granted day in and day out, just to have a home to come home to where they feel safe and have rights and freedoms many other people around the world only dream of. They bravely face danger and get paid almost nothing to do it just because they believe in this country that much! Can you imagine doing all this just to come home to what you thought was your home only to realize it's now the banks!?? This breaks my heart! I hope you find the article interesting and it touches your heart like it touched mine. All you have to do to participate and help out is "like" the cause on Facebook and $1 in your name will automatically be donated! That's it!! OR, you can donate money and HouseLogic will match your amount. Either way, it's a GREAT way to give back which, you should know by now, I'm a huge fan of!
