Real Estate Speaker's Bureau?

By
Industry Observer

How would an aspiring Real Estate Coach / Trainer enroll in a Real Estate Speaker's Bureau?

I would like to offer FSBO listing program, or SEO training to MLS Boards, Brokerages, Seminar and Convention Managers.

Any Advice ?

How about the National Speakers Bureau?  www.nsb.com   They have a category for real estate.

I know that the Florida Association of Realtors interviews potential speakers directly.

Lonn,

I've tried to get on board with them in the past, but it is not an easy thing to do.  I had better luck by circumventing them altogether.  RE/MAX Mainstreet was the vehicle I used in the past.  I assume Active Rain offers that pportunity even more!  Also... the biggest break I had was doing some small speaking engagements, and that is where I coincidently crossed paths of many great people that gave me more opportunities without even asking for them. You have a gift with the Internet, Technology, and SEO and so much more.  Try some small local presenations.

Thanks Jim for comments from experience:

You say mainstreet gave you the first break?  Was that through mere exposure of your interest or did you initiate contact with nearby brokers or ???

I love to teach, coach, and share...  BUT am naturally a bit reluctant to teach this stuff to direct competitors in my own market ; )

I use to share a lot on REMAX designing Graphics, Power-Point listing presentations, graphics, MS Publisher postcards and flyer's.  International asked me to fly out to Denver and do a show...it went very well...and then They asked I speak at a few conventions, some were part of panels, and many without pay.  Then I was asked to speak at some small regional brokerages. At some ot those I met up with Rofl Anderson, Jerry Rossi, Dave Beason and many other fine speakers.  At some of these engagements some high profile Internet companies CEO's contacted me to assist their companies in design and development of real estate websites.  The rest is kind of history.  It is not something I made happen, it just did.  I have a passion about teaching, the Internet, and training.  Just be yourself, post a lot in Mainstreet.  Get your name out there.  See if you can talk to the folks at International.  They are very approachable.

Thanks Jim.  Appreciate the story about how it broke open for you.

Most truly great accomplishments are not MADE per se, but are serendipitous result of preparation and opportuntiy.  Your path probably had a lot to do with timing?  You were certainly a man with an appointment with destiny...  And very nice that destiny cooperated : )

Anyway, I did contact INTL and ask how to ge an "official RE/MAX Vendor" seal of approval for my FSBO listing program, but they passed, saying something like FSBO listing programs were not on their agenda.

Maybe I can try again regarding my SEO eBook?  Or maybe I can send them a powerpoint presentation on the subject...

If you get a chance to suggest up and comers to fill a spot you cannot take due to schedule conflicts, then, well, I know a guy you could recommend ; )

Thanks again Jim for taking the time to share and to help somebody starting out in the coaching/services field.

Why not ask to do an RSN show to share your knowledge with REMAX...instead of buying your way in?  You may be approaching it the wrong way.  I would approach it differently.  Look at as you have something they would want to hear and share.
