Your Broker/Owner Is Not Responsible For Your Success!!!

Reblogger Charita Cadenhead

Barbara Todaro is singing a song that some agents will never learn and that is that their success depends on them and no one else:  not even their broker.  I cannot even imaging depending on some else (beside God) for my success.  It's unthinkable to me.

After reading a post by Bliz titled "Innovation Probably Isn't Found In Your Brokerage's Classroom" I thought I'd go one step further and give my opinion as to why that occurs.  The most important task any broker/owner/manager has is to recruit, and most recruits today are new blood.  They are fresh off the blocks and eager to run.  It's the job of the broker/owner/manager to make sure that agent is running in the right direction and not in circles or into harms way.  We all remember that "the negligent acts of the agent are binding on the master when done on the masters' business and within the scope of the agent's authority."   That phrase, Respondeat Superior, is Latin for "let the master answer."    It was the first thing I learned in real estate 32 years ago, and I think about it every day.

Having stated that, it's critical that the "same old, same old" be drilled into every new agent's mind every day.  The seasoned agent and self starter will jump off the blocks and search for the "meaty" topics that will start the creative juices flowing.  The convention type atmosphere that injects a dose of enthusiasm and sparks a flame that will burn brightly cannot be replaced.  While efforts are directed to capture more business with the assistance of worthwhile "daily doses" of information and reminders that one receives from ActiveRain, there needs to be basic training continuing in the office.  It can never be eliminated.  It's not the duty of an office to provide you with an ActiveRain atmosphere.  Simply stated, the office is there to provide you with the basics to keep you out of trouble.  Those agents who are mindful that they are self employed and should be self starters will seek the proper path for success.  Internet marketing is just that, and blogging is the method.  Not everyone blogs and not everyone is on the right path for success.  That's why 5% of the agents do 95% of the business.
