In today's market for some the closings are fewer and far between. What used to be is no longer. Change is inevitable.

But... not all things have to change. I remember last year when business was up, the investors were in full throttle mode, and sales came about a whole lot easier. Closings were a relatively frequent occurrence.

When ever I had a closing I would always invest some of my earnings back into my business and I would reward myself with a REALLY NICE bottle of wine. Well in 2006 you could say I had built up a nice collection of wines from the fruit of my labor. Grgich Hills Cab

Fast forward to 2007...

Well my wine rack is rather empty and I have been saving a few choice bottles for a special occasion. I did have two closings this month and I made my trip down to A New Vintage Wine Shop and purchased a couple of bottles. I always try something new along with a favorite. Again, change is good.

I continue to reward myself for a job well done. I continue to invest in my business.

Remember to celebrate your accomplishments, reward yourself and your business however you see fit..  Cheers!

Nice post!  My Coach believes in this same principal.  It does work, even if it is a small gift to yourself, to feel that good sense of accomplishment.

Hayden... Right now my favorite is By K Vintners in Walla Walla it is a Phil Lane Syrah. They are located in walla Walla Wa. Great Syrahs... Walla Walla Vintners is good too with their Cab Franc, I also like Grghich Hills Cab. I am originally from N. Ca. and frequented the Napa Valley in my old life once a month for work. Now I live in the Boise area and I go to Walla Walla twice a year to wine taste. I know TMI.

Wow!  You are right on the money with this post.  Sounds just like me, but I never thought to buy a bottle of wine for each sale.  Never to late to start.  I think I will pick up a bottle of wine tonight to reward my closing from a couple of days ago and start my collection.  Let's keep busy.

I always invest in "toys" (I don't drink anyway) when rewarding myself.

Hi Donna, I used to love a good wine. My problem was I loved a good martini better. Gave it all up 10 years ago. You are right though it is good to reward ourselves for a job well done. My reward now is seeing the smile on TLWs face when I hand over the check and ask for my 20 bucks:)

BB... I am sure TLW appreciates the check and gladly hands over the 20

Donna, very good to reward yourself.  I usually give a bottle of wine to my clients -- sometimes they even share!  I usually take my wife to nice dinner after a closing.

Donna, good idea to remember to reward yourself. Yes, business is entirely different than in 2004-2006, but I'm taking advantage by going to the mountains and staying away for a few days - no computer, no email (except my Treo 700 of course), and just golfing, enjoying being with my hubby. The time will come when we'll be innundated again. For now, I'm enjoying the down time.

Teri, Good for you, hope you have a wonderful time. Yes I do know the tide will eventually turn and we will be longing for some relief. I myself have been taking advantage of the down time as well.
