What Do You Do WhenYou Can't Blog?

This week my computer was down (for the count as it turns out). I didn't realize what a big part of my life it was.

I couldn't blog on ActiveRain. I couldn't check my email. I couldn't take care of my website. I couldn't do research on Google. And I couldn't play poker online or download Sudoku.

So what did I do? I read twelve books. Now somebody had a challenge or a MeMe that was about your favorite books. I read several of the posts of the "lucky" participants. Nobody admitted to reading popular novels like mysteries or adventure stories.

I have "philosophical" treatises in my library, but they aren't "FUN" reads. for fun I like to read Elmore Leonard, John Sandford, Tony Hillerman, sue Grafton, and several others.

The twelve books I read this week are:

Rum Punch by Elmore Leonard

So now I'm caught up with my reading. Nothing on my list to be "proud" of but it kept me entertained.

It had truly been too long since I did any recreational reading.

This is my self-imposed MeMe. I will not burden anybody else with this project, but if there are any volunteers who don't mind admitting to a taste form popular fare then you are "directed" to confess in a MeMe of your own.

ALL IN FUN.

Bill, Great job filling your time with something worthy. You could have sat around like a slouch and watched television. I guess I'll find out what it's like to not be able to blog this week, since I'm heading to Florida tonight. I shudder to think of it, but I'll have to sign off for a week.

BILL... twelve books in a week... WOW!! Thats about all I can say about that!! Its good to keep yourself focused on something even if you were not able to have your computer. I have had computer issues this week as well. Glad to see you're back online.

Hi I missed you! I thought you must be on vacation. For all I accomplished while you were gone, I should have been,lol.

I know about have the systems go down. It cost me a lot, but it won't happen to me again. I have a parallel system now. It is mirror image on another computer that doesn't have to run, except one a week to sync up. The software is from Acronis. It is the least expensive part of this set up.

Here is a thought for you. If your computer crashes you have all the data backed up, right? We all know to do that. The part no one explained is that unless you are willing to go out and buy a new computer what is all the data going to run on, while your computer gets fixed?

Thus my parallel system. With me using a Tablet PC and not just a desk top, my tech guy performed a miracle.

William, I bought an external hard drive to back up the system on and I can "plug" it into any windows computer. Better late than never. But that is how we learn. Thanks for the kind thoughts.
