It's that time of year again... the crunch of autumn leaves, crisp apples straight from the tree, warm spiced cider, wool clothes, and giant pumpkin patches that signal the arrival of autumn in Pennsylvania and many other areas around the country. One of the biggest signs of fall in northeast Florida, on the other hand, is the influx of bikers heading to Daytona for Biketoberfest!!!! Many of these bikers stop along the way, or take a break from the festivities, to visit St. Augustine. There are signs welcoming the bikers at restaurants and motels. You can pass by convoys of bikers riding up and down A1A. It's great to hear the roar of the bikes and see all the bikers enjoying themselves in our business establishments. These are not the Hell's Angels of old movies, but rather some very likeable, fun-loving, mostly well-mannered men and women out for a break from the daily grind of their jobs (often professional). We welcome them and urge everyone to watch out for bikers on the highways and roads as they enjoy this fun autumn classic. If you've never experienced it... come on down!
Margo, As a person who enjoys riding on a motorcycle this sounds like a great destination. Sounds like you enjoy bikes also. Yes a far cry from Pennsylvania. When the winter arrives I bet you do not miss Pittsburg!
All the best,
Gloria
Actually, I'm not a biker at all, but my husband is. In his mind, he's a rough and ready, leather clad bad @*%+ biker, but in reality he's a sweet, mild mannered, pleasantly nerdy psychologist. A client once saw a photo of him in full biker regalia on his bike, and didn't recognize him. He couldn't believe that was his sportcoat, tie, and brogue wearing psychologist. BTW... my daughter and I refer to him as Psych on a Bike!!!
Margo, The community of bikers is a friendly fun world. That is funny about your husband and his client, and the name you have for him!
Enjoy!
Gloria
I know. It's so quiet now that they're gone. The excitement will start for them again this winter at Bike Week!
