I am beginning to see a correlation between being a parent and staging a house. As a mother of 2 children, I love them both equally. However, my children do not require the same amount of attention each day. Some days, my daughter, (Abby age 9 the Drama Queen) needs a crisis resolved. The next day all is right with her world and my son (15 years old with a learner's permit) needs my wisdom.
Each time I stage a house, I go thru a creative process. Some projects are complete within a day or two and I leave the house knowing I gave all I have to give to that house. However, there is that one. The one that has been on the market 8 months before the realtor/buildrer called you. The one the builders just want to sell, sell now and quit worrying about it. The one you as a stager really want to come thru for. On Wednesday, I completed this stage.. On Thursday, I went back just to add one more prop to the guest bathroom. On Friday, I returned to place an additional basket of towels in the master bath. Today, I repainted old chairs to place on the front porch. Tomorrow is the Open House. It feels like one of my children's dance recitals, football game or school play. I just want the house to go out there and do it's best. Break A Leg House....
