19 Comments on Truth in advertising?
~ looks like it needs some work! a little sweat equity!
Holes in the ceiling are never a good sign but if priced right someone will want it.
Is that an electrical outlet in that hole? Well, at least the potential buyers won't say, "They didn't show this in the pictures!"
Jim~ wouldn't it be funny if it were animated and a cat stuck it's head out with a mouse in it's mouth. Honestly, I don't know what or why some agents do what they do. My favorite are the foreclosed home pictures used from the last time it was listed and in pristine condition. Truth in advertising...NOT. Have a great day.
I have seen that hole before...and it was related to a previous roof leak - a repair half way done!
Jim, Yet another mystery. Why do photograph what we do?
Yikes! That needs some TLC alright.
I think it's a good idea to include shots that show some of the defects in REO properties. Most of the REO's are rough and have been neglected for months. The banks aren't going to make repairs. Buyers need to understand that the house is not in perfect condition. Not showing at least one or two pictures of some of the defects is misleading.
Jim, maybe that was camera taking pictures? Definitely a strange photo to take at a listing!
Hi Jim, I'm guessing that this agent must have gotten an earful before for not showing just how bad a particular property was.
Jim, is it a foreclosure? If not, I would advise the seller to finish whatever repair that was started!
I've seen a lot of foreclosed property with pictures of items of interest in the listing. If the purpose is to give a prospective buyer an idea of what work needs to be done, it's probably appropriate.
Jim...I think pictures which depict the condition of a property are appropriate. They say a picture is worth a thousand words!
Maybe it means, leak has been fixed and mold remediated. Who knows. It baffles me what agents will take pictures of.
I think probably the photograph was to indicate an electrica outlet is available for a ceiling fan, light fixture, etc. I can't be sure, but it looks like one of those heavy-duty outlets, maybe for 220? Not a pretty sight, but perhaps useful to a prospective buyer.
That might not be so bad with an explaination - like Chris Ann said, maybe it's proof of something positive. Just the picture though... Gives a really bad impression!
Hi Jim - How about "Room with a View?" Bset, Gay
Jim, I've taken some shots like this one... - with an explaination, when I'm selling a home 'as is' that needs alot of work....Just to save agents/buyers time that would not want to tackle repair issues...
Hey, everyone.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I’m running behind on reading comments, but rest assured that I’ll read them all, and if there are any that need a response, I’ll put those in individual comments after this one.
Also, I do return comment for comment, so I’ll be by our blogs, if I haven’t been already, to do a little reading and commenting. Hope you’ll have the welcome mat out and lots of good stuff for me to read.
And if you need a cat book for that special cat person in your life, I can highly recommend “The Cat Lover’s Book of Days,” by our own ActiveRain Member Peg Silloway.
