Arizona Fall Season Sights: Verde Canyon Railroad Train Ride -- Part 1
One of the wonderful things about ActiveRain is the opportunity to get to know more about areas outside our own sphere of knowledge. Sometimes that comes from a one-time blog raising awareness of an event in far-off Auburn, Maine (far-off from my perspective, which is closer to Auburn, California.) At other times, it is an intentional, highly complex and wonderfully done series. I am reblogging Anna's "Part 1" of Arizona Fall Season Sights: Follow the series and you'll have a new awareness of one of those western states!
(Fortunately for some of my family members vacationing in Arizona when she started the series, Anna's suggestions made their vacation far more memorable!) Thank you Anna, and for the rest of us ....enjoy!
Phoenix Property Shoppe Presents - AZ Fall Season Sights: Verde Canyon Railroad Train Ride -- Part 1
With the fall season underway, trees are transforming, flaunting shimmering hues of gold, bronze and crimson that are sure to catch your eye. Taking a walk in the park is more enjoyable; the weather continues to cool down, and sight seeing nature’s wonders are more appealing as the days pass.
And there isn’t a better state than Arizona at this time of the year to witness the seasons change. With varying climates, terrain & landscapes, you’re bound to stumble upon activities for the entire family to enjoy, whether it’s in the cooling desert, in a pine & cottonwood tree forest or alongside canyons big & small.
This series will take you through just a few places (of many) worth seeing in Arizona – if you haven’t already.
VERDE CANYON RAILROAD
For a relaxing, stress-free journey, the Verde Canyon Railway’s train ride is exactly what you’re looking for. Beginning in Clarkdale (25 minutes from Sedona) to Perkinsville, the Verde Canyon Railroad moves at 12 mph, slow enough for you to fully digest everything the Verde Canyon has to offer – from towering pinnacles, ancient Sinagua Indian ruins & dwellings, old mines, a 680-foot tunnel as well as over trestles & past a monocline fault.
Witness history and the vibrant colors of fall on the Verde Canyon Railway.
The journey starts at Clarkdale and passengers can choose how they wish to experience the train ride:
- caboose (private car for an intimate party of six or less)
- first-class (for those who enjoy some champagne with their comfortable love seats or bistro-style chair-and-table seating near panoramic windows)
- coach-class (Pullman-style seating with views)
- open-air cars (with comfortable benches, shaded canopies for those who like the fresh air)
Fall Season Events:
At this time of the year, the Verde Canyon Railroad offers their Fall Colors Tour where you can “enjoy cooler fall temperatures and spectacular Indian summer skies.”
Or, you can partake in more Octoberfest celebrations on their Ales on Rails ride. You don’t want to miss it!
