Is It Ok To Become "Involved" With our Clients?

By
Real Estate Agent with BCR Realtors 262359

Like most professionals it just isn't good business to get close to or become "involved" with our clients. We should keep things on the up and up and do the job we were hired for. And for the most part we should always resist any temptation to do otherwise.

But what about the homes we list and sell? Is it ok to become "involved" with them? Believe me when I say it...I have fallen head over heels for several through the years.

Why I remember this one beautiful one. She was demure. had a subtle beauty about her. She even came with a little bit of bawdy history I cannot repeat in this forum.  I recall she had great bones and a fantastic figure! And she had an English rose garden that was simply intoxicating!  Oh I wanted her so bad,  that I gave in to my urges and  then even my wife decided she had to have her!.....so we made an offer! ......the owner rejected our offer on her and sadly  someone else got her.  Very sad.

Have you fallen for any of the homes you were trying to sell?

Never, and I coach my clients that they should not fall in love with any property until they have the keys in their hand. I do try and keep as much of the emotion out of it as I can. To cold??

Doug...My honest opinion......yes.  Lighten up .... 90 % is emotion!  The same in life, politics and home buying.

No not one I was selling but I walked into a home.  Then went home and brought my wife back and purchased the home.

I have fallen for many..... just like going to an exotic car show or to a high end boat show, and the Real Estate seems more within reach even.

Yes, I have loved a few. Then I think about packing and moving and that pretty much kills the love affair.

It's what finally drew me into real estate 22 years ago.  I went to too many open houses and decided if I couldn't buy all the homes I loved at least I could sell them to someone else who would love them.

Very enjoyable post Trey, I usually fall in love several times a week during Board Tour but am happy to let others have them all because I am happy with my little house in the country!
