My name is Eric Petersen. I’ve been playing for over a decade and have specialized in teaching personal bass, classical and electric guitar lessons for years. I have jammed with a number of bands, both professionally and in casual capacities. My back ground is primarily blues and rock but whatever your tastes and goals I can help you lay down a solid foundation and take you right on through to the finer points of style and technique.
There are many learning options available to you and I want to customize your education to your preferences so you don’t get bogged down learning something you’re not interested in. You will have to decide what your goals are and how much time you’ll be able to commit in order to get the most out of your guitar lessons. On average I recommend an hour of instruction per week and a half hour of practice every day to allow you to properly assimilate what’s being taught.
Prices for private guitar lessons are $25 for a half hour or $40 for an hour and I come to you. The first lesson will mostly be about getting to know each other and to size up your current skill level and expectations so if you’re my first time student then the first half hour’s on me! I will sit down with you for a half an hour free, with no obligation for future lessons. You need to have your own guitar and a tuner for practice during the week. I can bring an acoustic or an electric guitar depending on necessity and will accommodate your situation.
Guitar lessons will vary depending on your abilities and direction of study, lessons can include chords, chord building, scales, musical theory, rhythm, and technique. I will also teach you how to stretch and exercises to improve your playing and stamina as well as correcting bad habits that can lead to problems later on. Whether you are a complete beginner, need help with practice and learning songs, or you just want to finally understand the system of modes and chord relationships I can get you on the right path to playing the way you want.
