Free Flu Shot Clinics for Sharon Residents

Do you live in Sharon, MA? If so, here is the information about the 2010 seasonal flu clinics for Sharon residents. Getting the Flu shot in Sharon, MA
There are two separate clinics on two different dates. One is for those residents who have a high health risk. The second is for all residents ages 7 and over. This year, the seasonal flu vaccine includes the H1N1 Influenza strain.

Please read the information carefully to attend the right clinic.

There is also an intranasal FluMist clinic for all children, ages 5 to 18, who are residents of Sharon, (See schedule at bottom). The FluMist contains the seasonal flu vaccine and the H1N1 Influenza strain.

Get the flu shot in sharon, maInformation For All Clinics:
  • Everyone is entitled to a shot whether you have health insurance or not.
  • If you have health insurance, your health insurance number is required for reimbursement purposes.
  • Please be sure to bring your Medicare AND all other health insurance cards with you to the clinic.
  • Please wear short sleeved clothing.
  • No charge for flu vaccine...donations are welcomed.
  • No vaccines will be provided at the Board of Health Office until after these two clinics have been completed.

Seasonal Flu Vaccine Including H1N1 Influenza Strain

9:00 a.m. to 11: 30 a.m.                            5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Temple Sinai, 25 Canton St., Sharon             Sharon Community Center

High Risk Individuals Include:

1. People age 50 and older
People over age 18 with

     chronic conditions including:

  • heart, lung, liver or kidney disease
  • asthma
  • diabetes or other metabolic disorders
  • anemia or other blood disorders
  • weakened immune system as a result of

       cancer treatments, transplants, drug

           side effects, HIV/AIDS, etc.

  • muscle or nerve disorders that can lead

       to breathing or swallowing problems

3. Women who will be pregnant during influenza season

Separate Clinic for Intranasal, Live Vaccine FluMist

FOR ALL Children Ages 5-18

Thursday, October 21, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Sharon Community Center, Ballroom

childrenChildren must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian in order to receive the vaccine.

Not everyone is eligible to receive this vaccine, based on their health issues. For example, those with long-term health problems including asthma, heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes and other metabolic disease, anemia and other blood disorders, muscle or nerve disorders, weakened immune system, and pregnant women may not receive this vaccine.

Bring the Parental Consent Form which must be completed by a parent or guardian.

Tips to Staying Healthy and Avoiding the Spread of the Flu:

  1. Wash hands with soap and warm water, or use an alcohol-based gelwashing hands frequently.
  2. Cover your mouth with the inside of your elbow when coughing or sneezing.
  3. Do not take young children, those with immune system problems or the chronically ill into large crowds unnecessarily when the flu in your community.
  4. Stay home from work or school and avoid public activities for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone.
  5. Do not share items that can spead germs and viruses, like cups, straws or other items that you put in your mouth.spray cleaner
  6. Clean things that are touched frequently at home, school or work such as door knobs, refrigerator handles, phones, and faucets.

A tip on washing your hands:  in order to kill the germs you must wash for at least 20 seconds.  Singing "Happy Birthday" twice through will guarantee you are washing long enough.
