Rubbermade Avalanche...

Rubbermade Avalanche...

Yesterday, my husband dragged out the slow cooker and put together a huge pot of Chili...just one more reason why I love the Fall & the cooler weather!  After dinner, I went to the kitchen to put away the leftovers.  I opened the cabinet door to the rubbermade and...an avalanche of mismatched pieces came tumbling down onto my feet!

First of all...I thought, Why would anyone have this much rubbermade?  I mean, Seriously!?  Second of all...How can someone as organized as I am, have this type of mess in one of their cabinets?  I can't blame my husband, because I am just as bad as he is about tossing the pieces in the cabinet and closing the door as fast as possible.   I sat on the floor, swooped every last container and lid out onto the floor, and got busy.  If I couldn't find the lid to a piece, the piece went into the recycling bin.  If I couldn't find the piece to the lid...It too went into the recycling bin.  I found a few things I didn't even know I had!  I organized and stacked until I was somewhat pleased with my finished project.  How long will it stay neat and organized?  Probably not very long!  Now, for the Closets...

If you are planning to place your home on the market, you will want it to show as best as it possibly can.  That means that you will need to clean & organize cabinets, drawers, closets, built in shelving, etc.  Potential buyers will look in these places...Trust me!  If they open a cabinet and are buried under an  avalanche of rubbermade or shoe boxes from the closet, or worse...They may get the impression that there is not enough storage in the home. We certainly don't want that to happen!

Amy, were all the same with the containers, collect to many and stack them and fit them how you can. I am the one to set them straight all the time, as it is I who restore order to my house always. I can get my house ready to show in 30 minutes on any given day...but don't open the cabinets or closets!

Amy,  I just organized my plastic ware.  (I have all brands.)  How does it get so messy?  I think I'll blame Ted but truth is, it's me.  Anyway, the after looks great.  Good job!

Good luck with the closets.

Amy, It's amazing how little it takes to sidetrack some buyers, whether it's THAT shade of blue on the wall, or storage in the closets and cabinets...some don't see past the visual of right now, rather than what could be.

Lets shake things up at your home today!

Funny how that sort of things gets away from even us organized people, but when you're trying to sell it's so important that there are no distractions like that "rubbermaid" cabinet...........those buyers pay attention to everything.

AMY WHY! Why did you have to remind me that my Tupperware cabinet was in a shambles! Now I will have to go in there and toss out a bunch of stuff!

Ellen - I think I would have a heart attack if I ever walked in and caught my husband straightening the Rubbermade Cabinet, or junk drawer, or closets...

Michael - Kinda...

Marian - I wish I could explain the messy rubbermade/tupperware cabinet mystery :-)  I started on the closets, found a few things that belong to you...It will feel like Christmas in October if I ever remember to deliver them.

Bliz - You are absolutely right...Wish all buyer's could imagine the possibilities...

Amy,

Don't look in the closets, that's where all the lids go to hide lol

Enjoy the day

Hi Amy,

Someday someone is going to come up with a smart solution to the plastic ware problem that plagues us all.  We've had a few avalanches in my house too.
