Goodbye Mrs. Cleaver

Barbara Billingsley (aka June Cleaver) passed away at the age of 94. For those of us who grew up in the 50s and 60s, she was a television icon. The beav's mom always knew what to say to get her boys to recognize the error of their ways and to teach them those all important life lessons. Although many ridiculed her at home attire, or the fact that she appeared to cater excessively to the males, she was one smart momma. June talked to the boys, got the story, and hand fed Ward "what he needed to know." June had a lot more power (and control) than it may have appeared. I wonder if Ward even recognized it. Although I don't want to go back to aprons and pearls, wise communication and mutual respect should never go out of style! Thanks, Mrs. Cleaver.

Leave it to Beaver was one of my favorite shows growing up.  Very sad to know that Mrs. C has passed away.

I had not realized she was 94.  I do remember her and Donna Reed both wearing pearls to do housework!!!

If they could see me doing housework.... faded, stained, and just plain ugly Walmart sweatshirt and sweatpants! I wonder if it would look better if I wore pearls with it?!!

I loved that show...saw it as reruns. One of Nick's friends I swear is Eddie Haskell

I know, Beth. I think Helene may have known a few Eddies, too.
