What is this?

Okay, I let the puppies out and decided to take a few minutes to enjoy this great Arizona weather - finally cools off at night so we can open our windows!!!

This little guy was climbing up the patio wall.  I'm guessing the stubs from our typical stucco to him is like a climbing wall is to humans.

Is he eating my stucco?

Is he dangerous?

Why is he "bugging me?'

Maybe it's a sort of harmless grasshopper, but he's really green for that.  Are they this color?

I would really appreciate any of you identifying this.

I just don't do well with bugs of any type.

He looks like a typical grass hopper and not dangerous at all.  He does not eat stucco.

LOL, Elite.  I really do need to know your name.  So, I thought grasshoppers we kinda chameleons and changed their colors to blend in?  Okay, I could be wrong - but hey it's October - first time all year, LOL.

Carole and Laura, he was at least twice my size - I'm 5'3".  Well, okay, that's how big all bugs look to me, LOL.

Hi Juli after heavy research on Google I studied the various types of Grasshoppers and this is what I came up with see cut and paste:)))

Twostriped Slantfaced Grasshopper

The largest twostriped slantfaced grasshoppers can be in the range of 2 inches
long. These grasshoppers can jump or fly to avoid predators or disturbances. This species lives from South Carolina to Florida and into the west as far as portions of California.

Well, he is WAY bigger than 2 inches - I mean, he was at LEAST 6 feet long!!!  LOL.

Wow, Endre, thanks for the research.  I truly figured it was a grasshopped, but his color really threw me off.

Are they gone yet?  I hear they are good roasted.

Thanks for asking about the land on Maui on my recent post....

Juli - there are all kinds of properties, some are flat, and many are on the slopes of the mountain, which makes for great views.  With a large acreage you will probably get some varied terrain, which is interesting and more fun.
