Halloween for Kids in Raleigh

Halloween isn't all about scares and thrills -- there are probably more princesses and Spidermen than ghosts and zombies on any given Halloween. If you and your kids want something more from this Halloween season than one night of trick-or-treating, there are plenty of Halloween-themed activities around the Triangle that cater towards smaller children.

We've already featured several pumpkin patches and corn mazes for kids, and below are even more options for fun activities around the Triangle this Halloween!

Fearrington Village - Annnual Pumpkin Fest

Pumpkin Fest activities for kids include Spooky Storytime at McIntyre’s Fine Books from 6-8 p.m. and a Pumpkin Walk from 5-9 p.m. featuring dozens of elaborately carved jack-o-lanterns on display. The Old Graary Restaurant will be serving family-style dinner from 5pm-8pm. Live bluegrass music is also featured (likely the parents will enjoy that more).

There will be a family-friendly trail with mild scares from 6-8 p.m. After 8pm the trail becomes guided and gets scarier. It is recommended for ages 10 and up (including adults!) from 8-10 p.m.

 

Clayton Halloween Parade

Kids trick-or-treat in costume in a parade that begins at the Main Street parking lot and ends at Town Square with games, prizes and face painting. There is also a hayride that costs $3/child (parents free). Check out the official event page for more information by clicking here.

Hayrides, haunted trail, costume contest, carnival games and crafts. In case of rain, goodie bags will be handed out at the large shelter from 6-7 p.m. Event is directed for children ages 2-12.

Mordecai Historic Park - Haunted Mordecai Festival and Lantern Tours

Games, crafts, food and a kids’ costume contest at 6 p.m. Festival admission is free. Half-hour haunted lantern tours of the Mordecai House from 5-10 p.m. are $5. Visit the website to purchase tickets online, or call 919-857-4364.

Open through October on select nights, 7-10 p.m. See website for complete schedule. Admission is $15 for adults; $10 for children 12 and under. Haunted house and trail.
Special low-scare night for younger kids on Oct. 28, 7-9 p.m., features carnival games, face painting, popcorn and trick-or-treating. Admission is $5.

Durham Jaycees - 38th Annual Haunted House

Oct. 22-23 and Oct. 27-31, 6:30-11 p.m. Open Oct. 24 from 1-6 p.m. for children to tour a toned-down version of the haunted house. Admission is $7; children’s day admission is $6. For 38 years this has been a Halloween feature of Durham and the Triangle!
