9 Comments on I Need to See the House - RIGHT NOW!
We all have those calls - frustrating isn't it, that people REALLY think we are at their beck and call to see any of our listings when it is convenient for them!
Next time tell them to come to the back yard your in the tent.
You take 1 listing at a time and sleep there till it sells.
It takes all kinds to make a world
Enjoy the day
I want it and I want it now. If they can't reschedule to see it, they probably aren't going to buy it anyway.
Amazing how much restraint you have to have when dealing with these types of calls - I had one like this the other day. Impatient, rude, demanding, wanting to see it that second. Ironically, his number was on my caller ID. So, I did a reverse look up, just for my own curiosity, and the number turned out to be registered to the neighbor across the street. So, when I had the open house that weekend - I kindly knocked on his door & asked if he was still interested in taking a look, that it was available to be shown. Should have seen the shocked look on his face, realizing I knew it was him that had called. Priceless.
I think shoppers are doing that too. They seem to be repulsed when I tell them "I can have one of my buyer agents get in touch with you to show you the property immediately". They answer like "Oh, you can have a buyer's agent meet me huh?" and the phone call goes downward immediately. I'm thinking to myself, "if this is a shopper, is she going to hit me negative for being WAY too busy to help buyers but giving her a way to view the property faster?"
It is never worth trying to take on a client like that. If they are that demanding before they have met you, it is only bound to get worse.

When this happens to me I jsut try and remember these people are not my friends. Can i make oney from doing business or not. I don't care if they are likable if it helps my business. If it doesn't they could be Santa Claus and it will not make any difference.
You also have to be very careful with your own personal safety. There have been reports from different market areas throughout the nation about Realtors getting robbed, assaulted, or even murdered on showings - especially in vacant properties. Follow safey guidelines from NAR and your State Realtor Assn to be sure you're not a potential victim.
By the way, I've 'cheesed off' a few buyers that refuse to meet me in person at my office before showing a property. It's amazing how many of our colleagues will jump into a car and drive to a showing with a total stranger. As an old TV program used to say, "Let's be careful out there".
Thanks for all your great comments.
It seems I was not the only one to get a call like this...
