Motivational Power Quote

You Get What You Negotiate

"In business you don't get what you deserve,

you get what you negotiate."

Chester L. Karrass, negotiating expert

As I see it. . . . . . . .

You get what you negotiate

Everything that we want is either owner or controlled by someone. If we want something it's not going to be handed to us. We're going to have to successfully negotiate for it.

In our career we may feel that we deserve a raise or to make more money, in both cases if we want more money we will have to earn it.

If you feel that you deserve more money there are choices. We will have to become more proficient in our professional and prove ourselves and negotiate a raise with the company based on our performance.

Or in commission sales we get better in our choose field and increase business and our negotiating skills to earn more money.

In both cases what we are looking to accomplish is increasing our income. In both cases what we're seeking is controlled by someone else (the money) and in both cases we have to get better at what're doing to negotiate for increasing our share of the money.

You get what you negotiate, increase your skills in the art of negotiating and you will get more of what you want.

I can see the point in this. However, sometimes you get more than you negotiate for.

Everything is negotiable. As they say "if you do not ask, the answer is always no."

Lou,

Agreed. And I believe one of the difficult things to do is to demonstrate that you are worth that extra pay.
