Enough of the Bumper Sticker Arguments.

Here's to you, kid!

You know, those clever and witty little parsimonious tales who bury their competitive counterpart in their idealogical thought.  Like:

Sarah Palin's an idiot.

Obama's a Socialist.

Glenn Beck For President.

The Tea Party is a bunch of racist white people.

Al Gore cares about the environment, even though the green he is getting isn't recycled.

Conservative Women may be a tad 'attractive' but their advocates won't get laid ... which explains a lot.

Dick Morris looks rather lovely naked.

Keith Olbermann is straight.

And Fox News is Fair and Balanced.

I'm a pretty open minded chap, though I didn't participate in that orgy back in 99 because the idea of mulitiple women and various penises intrigues me about as much as Ann Coulter's Thesis on avoiding Race Wars.

That written, I'm tired of Politics.  But not in the typical way.  I'm tired of trying to well-tune my own ideological values to a particular party or movement.  Personally, give me a bunch of Free-Thinking Individuals who actually care enough to think about issues above and beyond how it may affect just them and I'll show you my Political Philosophy.  That Philosophy is akin to Mr. Bruce Lee's Philosophy on Martial Arts:

Take what works, use it.  Take what doesn't, throw it away.

And while I do believe that:

Sarah Palin is an idiot (yet she has made a lot of money along the merry way which says something about someone, perhaps everyone in that particular camp).

Obama's Not a Socialist, but that's probably not as bad of word as opponents make it out to be.

Glenn Beck still has my vote to continue to be a Commentator, nothing else.

The Tea Party needs a more original name, but there is no way I'd classify them as a bunch of racists.

I still don't trust Al Gore ... something about that face.

Conservative Women = Frustrated with Conservative Men with small ... expectations:)

Morris looks like Ben Owens on Steroids next to Bill Parcells.

Maddow wants to bed John McCain's Daughter and Keith probably still wants a piece of Colin Powell's ... yep!

But all of that written, I'll vote on the issues before me.  I'll vote on what I believe will make my existence in this Country on this Earth a bit better place.  More than that, I'll vote on issues that I believe will make others existence in this Country on this Earth a bit better place.  That's my duty ...

to leave this world a tad bit better off for living in it.  That, and to submit slogans for the next Bumper Sticker that's going to offend someone.

If in doubt, allow more personal freedom.

Keep the change...

Hi Jason, You are as colorful and vibrant as ever. I agree with much of what you have written here and agree mostly that we need solutions and not so many sound bites. Well done, friend! Hope life is showing you some absoluetly wonderful things these days.

The trouble with taking your news in sound bites is that substance is nill.  The issue for me is that it is all form over substance. The word for Palin might be idoit savant.

HAH! I bet this one is not featured in Blatant Politics or one of the other nit-wit right wing "it's all very simple" groups...

You make me smile. I'm too tired to be witty, but anything more you have to share about conservative women, please send. I always like to stir things up in the office, most of 'em already think I'm a communist anyways.

I often scratch my butt and wonder at some of the bumper stickers that folks deface their vehicles with. Are they really trying to make a statement or show their stupidity. <sigh> Oh well. Just had to add my 2¢'s to the mix...

I've yet to find anything that is on a bumper sticker that I liked enough to place of my car as a statement of who I am or what I am about.  I don't align with either party or any faction well enough to consider myself one of their members.. what I am is tired of all the stupid posturing and the lack of real action other than inaction.

Sardi - I don't do bumper stickers, I like my bumpers too much.

Russell - I guess you don't pay much attention as to which posts have been featured in Blatant Politics over the past 5 or 6 months but would rather post in sound bites.

Politics is about helping yourself and those who helped you. Call me jaded, but none of the parties, factions or what ever interest me, it's all BS. I think you said it very well;

Personally, give me a bunch of Free-Thinking Individuals who actually care enough to think about issues above and beyond how it may affect just them and I'll show you my Political Philosophy.

The problem as I see it is the free thinking. Too many "individuals" get their "opinions" from the "mass" media.

Politics aside, quality rant Jason.  Your summary gave me some good laughs, whether I agreed or not.  Nicely done.

Mike, no offense, and yes I don't know anything about BP but if you are involved I am sure it's interesting and probably has a wide assortment of views.

I do I admit that I take pot shots at both the right AND left and sometimes for no reason other than I am "in a mood." They should probably have Time-Out section for people like me!

Keep an eye out for the Independence Party. Follow the money. Pro business groups including the powerful REBNY (real estate board of NY) are no longer blindly funding Republicans.

REBNY's mission is to expand New York’s economy, encourage the development and renovation of commercial and residential real property, enhance the city’s appeal to investors and residents and facilitate property management.

Republican/teaparty has become too fringe even for pro-business interests. The tea party/Republican candidate for Governor of NY if elected  (he doesn't have a prayer) is calling for the use of eminent domain to take away private property rights from people minorites and groups he doesn't like.

Hey, Wallace!  The only bumper sticker on my car says:  "Support the Arts - Hug a Flute Player!"

And Jason, I'm wondering if the Tea Party supports DC voting rights.  We really do have Taxation Without Representation, and it's right on our license plates!

I have never put a bumper sticker on any of my automobiles, but I'm alright with what you had to say. These days I think that politics have become a little too extreme, at least where talk is concerned. Both sides seem to be a little more mouthy, and a little less capable of actually helping anyone.

Agreed, Mr. Boney.

Patricia - Don't know.  I'm not a card carrying member of the Tea Party, though I love the passion some seem to have.  I don't love some of the other things they seem to represent, though.

Nicholas - Nothing more than folks who tout small government yet then want to get in the business of folks on social issues.  That dichotomy just doesn't make sense to me.

Mitchell - I have a feeling we would agree on most aspects of the political realm.

May - I'm actually starting to submit some slogans to a company (for the first time in eight years) who will actually pay you if they like the slogan.  Seems a nice fit for me in my spare time:)

Russell - I take pot shots as well, my friend.  And Saunders happens to be one man who I'd have in my Cabinet any day of the week.

Thanks Mike!

James - You won't get any disagreements from me on that.

Saunders - I don't do bumper stickers either.  But I do enjoy writing them.

Wallace - Nothing ultra witty on those, but I bet seeing the back of that car would indeed annoy some liberals.

Bill - Perhaps I'll think up a bumper sticker especially for you;)

Thorton - If you ask me, it's trying to make a statement while unknowingly making known their stupidity.  And remind me not to shake hands with you;)

Leslie - I have a feeling you and Jennifer would get along real well.

Russell - Surprisingly, I've garnered a Gold Star in a few of those groups the past few months.  I prefer Blatant Politics where Saunders is a Moderator.

Ruthmarie- I gave Palin a chance, a fair shake.  And no offense to those who follow her, but she should just get out of the Political Realm all together.  I don't see much good coming from that gal.

Back at ya, William!

I'm all for that particular bumper sticker, Lane:)

Belonger - I concur.  And I like the bumper sticker;)  If I was running, out of every ten ads, nine of them would focus just on the issues and ideas on how either to fix them or make them better.  The other ad would be an attack ad of the kind of wit that is of comedic legend;)

Patricia has an interesting question - IF DC elected a Congressman or Senator - they would almost certainy be of the blue variety.
