Well, for some reason, I couldn't reblog his post, and that works for me anyway because now I get to say some nice things about him. He showed up last week with two kitties for me... and now he has me roped into helping with this project, too. If he were a realtor, I would tell my broker to hire him....NOW!
Pay It Forward - Becoming a Volunteer for Fare for All Wright County Minnesota (Members Only)
I am becoming a volunteer for Fare for all Wright County Minnesota. And, it will be a continuation of what I keep trying to do. Cut down on waste and make a smaller footprint on the planet.
Fare for All is active all across Minnesota. And there is a website for another one here. http://www.emergencyfoodshelf.org/OurFamilyOfPrograms/ffa/
The website explains the basic premise. There have been many misconceptions. Such as this food was on the grocer's shelves and pulled past expiration. That is not true. Sometimes, misorders happen at some of the bigger food chains....for instance, last week Menards had an off-brand coffee on sale....why? Because the weight of the coffee didn't conform and the lids were difficult to open.
Well, the coffee inside wasn't affected, just the packaging. And, that is how vendors "offload" product. Sometimes, the foodshelves get a good deal.
When food is 40 -50% off, I want to help seniors and others who need a helping hand to get their fare for all.
If you would like to donate some money to keep this afloat, let me know.
And, in the meantime, remember that heat is going to be an issue for a lot of people now, too.
I will post later on some programs to assist people with their heating bills.
