Thanks to one of my favorite feeds: ProBlogger.com, I was able to find a SUPER COOL (free) tool that shows, VISUALLY how certain search terms and websites are all connected, through Google. This site is called: TouchGraph.com

For example: I typed in "Understanding the Realtor® Code of Ethics" (something that I wrote a lot about, on my "other" blog as well as here, on Active Rain) into their search bar. The diagram below is what came up:

What this shows is the Top 10 Google Results for this search term (the big bubbles) and from there it shows the top 10 results for sites that point to that same site, and sites that point to those sites, and so on ...

Some auxiliary sites point to two main sites. As you can see, Yahoo! And Realtor.com. point to both a specific post on Active Rain as well as the page that shows all AR posts tagged with this search term:

Each Bubble can be clicked on to expand the top 10 incoming links even further. There really is NO END to how far across you could take this.

You can type URL's or keywords into
their search box and this program will compile all the data from Google, into this super-cool visual aid!

This can be used for visually understanding where all the links are, who uses certain keywords and who links to who ...

This is a very fun tool, and I am sure that there are some great uses for it, beyond what I mention, here. But for now ... I just love messing around with it!

Here is the link:

Have Fun!

Michael - When you figure out he whole "cloning" thing, please post about it. I am sure that there are plenty of 'Rainers (like me) that would benefit from being cloned. ;)

OK Mariana, I am difficult to stump.  I just got lost in these charts for over 2 hours, so much for anybody else getting featured tonight.

I saw some disturbing linking through to me, not really sure what I am looking at.  Do you understand how to read these charts properly?  If so, I would like to have a computer to computer conversation with you if you find some time.

Mariana,  This is really neat..but I'm having a hard time understanding all of it.  The Big Circles (yes, I know.  Kid terms here) are the Hub so to speak and everyone else links to them?  Or are they just related sites.

Laurie - When I first started messing with it, I, too, was bothered by the sites that I saw connected to me and my sites. However,I do not think that it is a DIRECT link. This program shows relationships: Your site links to sites that other people link to and there are sites that link to your site that also link to other people's sites (like Active Rain), and you link to sites that link to other sites and other people link to siets that link to you. A lot of "middlemen"? So, the relationships may not nec. be direct, but there IS a bunny trail. That is about as much as I could figure out on my own. (Thank you for the feature!) Hopefully, someone who reads this can give a little better explanation?

Owen - It can really take your time away from you if you are not careful!

Carol - Have fun with it!

Bill - I am STILL trying to figure it out ...

Stephanie - It definitely is about relationships, but they are also linked together. The big circles (that's okay, as that is how I talk about them too...) are the top Google Results and the smaller circles represent linked relationships somehow ...

Chris- Ah! Very true, huh? :)

Roberta - the web constantly amazes me ...

Leigh - Fun stuff, huh?

Jeff- They always have some cool thing to check out, don't they?

Ginger - ProBlogger is MUST read!

Richard - I don't really know all the ins and outs, but it IS a cool tool.

Tom - I don't think it will HELP you with SEO, but it gives an idea of how Top-Result-Sites manage their SEO and how they are all connected. Something like that ...

Elizabeth - Cool!

Chris- I still do not fully understand it, but it IS cool.

Jeff- Yes. I found it very interesting to see how all the "keywords" that I could think of were also on the SEO lists of the same 8 people in my area. Then, there were more HyperLocal keywords that almost no one was messing with. I really gave me an idea of WHERE I could focus my energy.

Laura- It IS interesting to see where people are linked to. I know that there are other programs that offer this, but not in this cool, visual format!

Pamela- It really could suck a couple hours out of your day. Be Careful!

Josh -yes

I've seen this over on Facebook. Instead of circles, it uses everyone's photos. Haven't quite figured out how to get good decision-making data out of it, but it does do a great job of showing relative relationships.
