I'm considered an out-of-the-box type of real estate agent, from my marketing techniques all the way to my training classes, so it should not come as a surprise to my aquaintances that I am going to take YouTube in a completely different direction for free real estate advertising.
What do most real estate agents use YouTube for? They take visual tours, or digitally recorded tours of their listings, and post them on YouTube to try and get more marketing bang for their buck (or in this case, for free!). I don't fault these real estate agents - instead, I applaud them! This is truly out-of-the-box thinking, and we may all be doing it in the near future.
Being how I am, though, I want to take YouTube and real estate to a different level (I won't call it the "next level", but who knows?). What causes people to watch a YouTube clip more than anything else? Usually, humor. That's what causes several of my friends to email me links for YouTube movies. They find something that tickles their funny bone, and POOF "You've Got Mail".
That's what caused me to stop and think. I could care less about marketing my listings on YouTube (if any of my sellers are reading this, please ignore that as a slip :) ). The chances of selling a home by the video there are low in my opinion, though I'm sure it happens. What I'm going to do is create some satire videos!
It's time to have fun. Myself and my team are going to create three or four real estate comedy sketches. Each one will be funny (or at least stupid enough to garner laughter). At the end, there I will be, giving my USP and my contact info.
Will it work? Who knows??? But I'm willing to be the guinea pig. If it does, you'll see another post from me on the subject (or if it bombs). More importantly, if it REALLY works, one of your co-workers may laugh and drop an email to you of my latest production.
I'm open to ideas. I have a few in mind, but if you have any good ones, let me know. I'll give credit where credit's due (i.e. I'll let everyone know it was your script idea, and I'll even include your website at the end).
Have a great Labor Day!
Bill
