POINTS????

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Sign Your Deed Realty
Someone told me that by blogging you can get "google points".  This is something I know very little about.  I would like to know more.  Google points???  Does it mean that if you have alot of google points then when someone is on the net googling then perhaps your city or name will appear on the first page?  How do you get google points?  I bet the answers are simple and I will probably kick myself for not knowing......I guess it is possible that I have google points and don't even know it yet???  Can someone explain, I think i want more google points from what I have been told so far it is a great way to get connected to people checking out your home city......Thanks for the feedback and help!

That's the first I've heard of them.  I know if you blog and include your weblink in everything it can help your SEO.  My AR blogs show on google long before my website does.

Hi Jennifer - The term that I frequently hear is 'Google juice' which Wikipedia defines as "internet slang for the ability or power of a website to turn up in Google searches." That primarily happens by writing quality content and having great incoming links. Blogging helps with this because when you consistently add good content, the search engines come to 'know' your site as reliable.

Its not Google points but blogging can help your Google rating if done properly.  The points on here go towards you local standing in your community.  That is why we see some people posting 20 blogs in a row that don't really add up to much because the hope to steal some thunder but I think it really does not benefit them as much as they hope.

I do have to say the points chase makes it more fun.  People who make a short term run usually don't stick around for long.

You can trade your google points in for a better ranking!!! LOL j/k  The only points you get are here on AR.  You can improve your google juice by using Active Rain with your anchor words and business website.  Read everything this blog says and you will benefit greatly with google.  Home Loans & Stuff >> The Arizona Home Loan Lady  She is the best yet!!!

Good Luck

I think that if someone was calling them google points, then they may have meant google ranking. Anyway, blogging is the way of the future, so keep it up!

I've heard the term Google Points and Juice, but I'm still in the dark, even after reading this post.  But thanks for asking.  We'll figure it out someday.

My understanding is the points you get on Active Rain give you a higher standing in your community or state. To get any type of notice on Google you need to post to the public but, more importantly to Localism.com

Exactly what Gary said.  The more points you earn on ActiveRain, the higher in rank you get on Google.  It's an awesome tool.

Jennifer -Looks like you've got some good responses here, but I'd caution you to make sure your posts are placed in the right (relevant) groups. Ok? I've fallen victim to misplacement, too.

I have not heard of google points myself. But I know that my profile shows up on Google. Also,I see that you have this post in three groups. You can put them in five groups. The more groups you put it in,the more people will read it which can add up in points and eventually help you with your search engine ranking. I am still trying to figure this search ranking and backlink thing out myself. Great post.

Every time you leave a comment on someone's post.....you leave a signature which maybe... the search engines like Google detect as significant some how.
