While it appears, on the surface, that the housing situation is not making progress, the traditional form of analysis does not provide sufficient indicators -- one way or the other. At this juncture, year-over-year comparisons are not necessarily viable because of the tax credit incentive.  In this regard, it might be well into 2011 before we can get a true reading on housing market conditions.  But in spite of sluggish summer activity, annual sales are still expected to reach five million this year. For perspective, annual sales have averaged 4.9 million over the past 20 years and 4.4 million over the past 30 years. Further to historic perspective . . . (read more)
