I attended a session at REBlogWorld titled, It was moderated by the ever smart Rob Hahn and featured an All Star Panel, Jay Thompson, Teresa Boardman and Sarah Stelmok – all of which have blogs that are very much alive and well. Our posts today are spread out across the internet. RSS feeds, Twitter, Facebook, as well as sites like Digg or FriendFeed. While the information has the potential to reach higher numbers of eyeballs, where they see it and how they respond has greatly changed. To the panel, I posed the simple question… If I came to your blog and read one of your posts and you could have me do one thing, which would it be? Now it’s your turn, what would you prefer?
“Is the Real Estate Blog Dead?”
Lyn - Follow up post coming - but I want to know what you think.
Patsy - if that's what you prefer then it's thee right answer for you.
Ken - FB is mine too.
Mott - how are you? Like the title? I made it up (duh). I'm also a "student" of Social Media. (made that one up too) Hey thanks for the reblog!
Mike,
Actually, unless you are selling SEO or hot leads, I want you to call or email me with your comment.
Failing that, either post to FB or Tweet it, whichever will get the most eyes..
Hmmm... You got the Daily Double: A comment and a "Like." Congrats!
Sorry Mike - no alternate choices. LOL! Post to FB or Tweet it, but which one?
Mike - LOL! I almost felt the need to pick up the phone and LOL to you personally. (almost)
Eric - thanks for playing! Here's a thought, you might not be but are your readers? Is your next client? Here's another one, Tweets now show up in the google SERP - Search Engine Results Page. Just thinking...
Mike- Facebook for exposure. But from a purely want to know what they thought aspect, I'd say leave comments.
Mike:
Thank You for sharing, Liking and commenting. It really is nice when peeps appreciate (YOUR) (MY) (OUR) work ~ YOU DID NOTICE THE RE-BLOG... Yeah...aYooooooo (Who Is @HeyAmaretto ?)
Whether it be something critical, educational, humorous, informative- whatever. It's so nice to be appreciated and/or recognized.
The world could be such a wonderful place if we would each take a moment each day and appreciate our fellow man.
Tweet, Re Tweet, Like, Comment or Share OR JUST DON'T GIVE A DAMN.
Mott - I did, thanks! (see comment #5) HeyAmaretto is one of the nicest sweetest people you'll ever come across.
Sorry Mike, but I've tried to become a fan of Twitter, but I'm more a Facebook kind of person. :)
Retweet, it goes further and my Twitter feeds to facebook so it is all covered.
Consumers don't comment much, but they call so best to get the post out there for a multitude of eyes. I'm dying to hear what the panel said.
Mike,
Inquiring minds want to know.....for me I would definintely say facebook. I have found it is the best avenue for me to actively engage....and in view of the visual nature of our business I find that to be valuable.
Lane - It seems that Facebook is the popular choice, but within FB is it the LIKE or the Share?
Michele - FB for you too? ok.
Missy - Eyeballls.., the more the better? BTW: as for the Twitter to Facebook option, that's you but I'll bet NONE of your clients have that set up.
Lori - Good answer (engagement) but as I asked Lane above, LIKE or Share?
I would probably want it re-tweeted simply because Twitter is considered a relevant site in the eyes of the search engines. Therefore a Twitter re-tweet provides better back linking and would push the post up in terms of search engine optimization. This would mean that more people would be likely to see the content.
Mike I'm a little confused....absolutely a rt carries link juice, multiple pages from the same relevant site = link juice. Not sure what you mean by follow or no follow? That is not the question that you asked...I'm kind of crossing the line from engaged to frustrated here. Are you going to be sharing the answer from the panel?
Kate - Don't sweat it.
Follow links carry the page rank from the page to the linked page. They are a "vote" for the page.
No Follow links carry nothing of the sort. Like a comment here in AR. It's going to be NoFollow. That means that there's no link juice coming from my comment link back to my website (if I left a link)
Here's more on Page Rank http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank
and on NoFollow: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_follow
As for answers - there's a follow up post here: http://areweconnected.com/social-media/comment-retweet-like-or-share-pros-and-cons/ the Panels answers were somewhat mixed. The best answer is yours and yours alone.
