John's post illustrates that being the bigger person scores you massive karma points. People who burn bridges will eventually find themselves feeling like they're on an island especially if they live in a small town. Here in San Diego which is huge I've seen this happen. Iguess those people figure that the odds of them needing a person they burn a bridge on someone is small but the truth is you never know.

Never burn a Bridge

I know everyone knows how important it is to never burn a bridge with anyone but I just wanted to bring it fresh to your mind again and tell you a story of what just happened to me.
About a month or so ago I had to fire an employee of mine because he just wasn't working out.  This was a guy that was on my team and we gave him some of our listings to give him some business.  Well obviously we were going to get a referral fee from him since we referred all those leads to him.  Well I'll keep this as short as possible and just let you know that I fired him and he ended up refusing to give me a referral fee on all the listings that we gave him.  They all closed and my company didn't see a penny for giving him all the leads.  I gave him a call and had a conversation with him about everything that had just happened.  He swore up and down that he didn't have to give me anything for all the listing leads that I gave him.  Haha riiiiiight. I could have very easily burned a bridge with him and called him every name in the book and possibly even more but didn't. I like to keep it professional and you never know what life will throw at you, and who knows I might need him someday.  However he did burn a bridge with me though.  The funny thing is that he isn't even a realtor now and I got an interesting call from my title company today.  Come to find out he is trying to get a job at the title company I do most of my business at.  They were asking me all about him and boy did I tell them.  That goes to show you that you never know when you're going to need someone.  He needed me to get a new job but they told me they would never hire him again based upon what I told them about him.  So there you go Never Burn A Bridge with Anyone. It can really hurt you in the future.
