Not Mr. C, too!

It seems we were just all a-buzz over the death of Barbara Billingsley, and now Tom Bosley, too. Mrs. Cleaver and Mr. C both in a week! I must be getting old... Everyone I spent hours watching on television either has really deep wrinkles or is dead. Jerry Mathers, Beaver Cleaver, was interviewed about his relationship with Barbara Billingsley on the Today Show the day after she died. I looked at him and couldn't believe my eyes. That cute little fellow was now an aging middle-aged man!... and Tony Dow, Wally a.k.a the "cute" one, has shoulder length white hair! White hair! Lucy, Loretta Young, Ed Sullivan... all gone. I don't think "The Girls Next Door" will leave such nostalgic memories in the minds of today's young people. I'll never forget the first time I heard about this show. I thought it was something like a modern day Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. Boy, was I shocked when I saw that old coot, Hugh Hefner, in his smoking jacket surrounded by a bevy of blonde beauties, who lived with him at the Playboy Mansion. Disgusting! To make it worse, they were replaced by buxom blonde twins. They, however, didn't last long... another blonde, Crystal, replaced them. Now, I know you must be thinking that I watch this junk, but the truth is, I called my daughter to find out if the girls next door actually lived next door, and I got all of these updates. Reality TV has replaced the cute and clean sitcoms of the 50s and 60s. I know you can't go back, but I really wish there was some real quality programming offered for today's youth. I hate to think ideas about life and love will be influenced by the trash we call entertainment today.
