Yesterday, I met two volunteers who work for the Fare for All Progam in Wright County Minnesota. The link I just provided is for the Human Services Area where both of these wonderful women used to work. Both have been involved for 20-30 years of assisting those who couldn't or can't provide food for their families to find the dignity of putting food on the table for their families.
It has been an eye-opening experience for me. I work with foreclosures or short sales on a regular basis, but I always wanted to find a way to help. And, I have done a great amount of work with senior clients and their housing needs in the recent past. But, I also knew that they needed food and comfort, too.
Well, it is all coming together now. St. Michael is becoming a senior haven....many new complexes are being built for senior housing. We have a new community center/town hall/library going in. There is a great clinic here and right now at least three pharmacies in St. Michael and one in Albertville right up the road.
I will be working for my first Fare for All on November 13th. And, with any luck, I can start a new food distribution center here in the northwest corner of Wright County for food assistance for families at 40% discounts off normal grocery prices.
I also spoke with a representative for the Food Assistance Program to become familiar with who qualifies for that assistance.
And, I will be speaking with someone tomorrow regarding Energy Assistance. I have a full plate.
And, trying to get a short sale listed yet this weekend and three opens. Wish me luck!
