An open house is a perfect opportunity for the listing agent to ask prospective buyers lots of questions, such as "have you been pre-qualified for a mortgage?" or "how long have you been looking?"  Instead of being on the receiving end of all the questions, why not ask a few of your own?  Questions that will help you decide if this is the perfect house for you or if you should walk away.  Here is Question #7 of "7 Questions You Should Ask at an Open House."

7 Questions You Should Ask at an Open House

Question
#7:  Are You Familiar With Other Homes on the Street and, if so, How Does This One Compare?

It is unusual to see a house that is the only one on a street or in a neighborhood that is for sale.  That means, there should be comparable information available in the MLS about the other houses.

So, the seventh question you should ask at an open house is are you familiar with other homes on the street and, if so, how does this one compare. A sharp agent might be able to tell you about very recent sales in the neighborhood or other homes that might be coming on the market. If the residence is a tract house, the agent might be able to suggest remodeling ideas he or she has seen in neighboring homes.

The bottom line is, although all houses are not the same, some things can help you make a better offer!

Hi Emcee - I really like the second part of the question as it requires more than just a yes or no response.  Thanks for posting.
